    Discover RYO Type Tobaccos

For a budget smoke, I don't think anything can beat D&R Two Timer. Dirt cheap, perfect moisture level, great toasty cocoa burley flavor, and comes in more of a broken ribbon cut, rather than the RYO shag cut stuff. I'm not a fan of shag cuts.

    Dark Moon by Dan Tobacco?

That has got to be the most nonsensical description for a tobacco blend I've ever read. It's all marketing gibberish and tells you nothing other than that it's a VaBur. Dan Tobacco produces a lot of quality blends and the VaBur is a classic combo. I'd say you'll be fine with it.

What is your "grab & go" tobacco?

Usually Carter Hall. I picked up a bag of Smoker's Pride Classic Blend a while back and it's similar, but definitely lower quality leaf and with a weird top note. That in a cob has become my "grab and go" baccy when I want a smoke but don't want to think too much about it. Don't think I'll buy...

How to Smoke a Full Bowl Without Altering the Taste?

With aromatics, the added flavoring tends to be strongest at the top of the bowl and can dissipate towards the bottom. The flavor evolving throughout the smoke is pretty much universal with all sorts of blends, both aromatic and non-aromatic, in my experience. It's just a part of pipe smoking...

    Any Recommendations on DFK?

JC Dark Fired is so named because the central focus of the blend is the dark fired leaf. However, according to Tobacco Reviews, it's a blend of Dark Fired and Virginia. Check out the tobacco finder on Smoking Pipes. It's a great tool to find new blends to try. You might like GH Dark Bird's Eye...

Must try Tabacco for a person that likes cult Blood Red Moon

Do you like butter rum or butterscotch flavored stuff? Do you like burley? If you answered "yes" to all of the above, get yourself a bag of this and thank me later. It's a great everyday smoke.

Does Your Spouse Know How Much Your Pipes Cost?

I hold myself accountable. The two most expensive pipes still in my collection were both about $50, and the rest are under $30. I don't have many pipes now - I think fewer than 20, not counting my stash of unsmoked backup cobs. Tobacco, on the other hand... that's where the money was spent.

Rivertown Bulk Tobacco is Live on Smoking Pipes

A lot of them sound very similar to existing C&D blends. I'd bet that the Maple one uses the same sauce as Autumn Evening, Hazelnut/Nutty Irishman, and so on. Just speculation. The only one that really piqued my interest was Oak and Ember, which sounds like Haunted Bookshop minus the perique.

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

That's something that was mentioned earlier on that I'm considering might be the problem (or at least part of it). Have you experienced fluctuating symptoms? My sense of taste will be pretty much normal for a day or a few days, then go back to being weird for weeks. Plus, I can still smell...

Perfect Pipe Collection. Less than 20 pipes.

I have about the same number and it's more than enough for me. I had PAD for a while, but then I realized I wasn't going to smoke most of them and sold the majority off. The whole reason I bought my first pipe, a Legend cob, was to smoke it, not to collect pipes. I stopped seeing them as...

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

Yeah, I really don't want to get rid of it, especially because a lot of it is going to become unobtainium soon after most Sutliff/MacBaren blends go the way of the dodo. I love relaxing with a pipe, but if it's just going to taste bland or downright nasty most of the time, there isn't any point...

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

Interesting thought. Another food ingredient that can have a unique impact on taste is szechuan peppercorn. It leaves a very interesting, almost cooling sensation on the palate and seems to help emphasize some other flavors.

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

That's strange that your problem just went away abruptly like that. There are all sorts of things that can have a profound affect on smell and taste, and the cause isn't always readily apparent.

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

An update for anyone experiencing similar issues: I've been continuing to focus on my dental hygiene, frequently flossing and using mouthwash, and I feel that it may be having an impact. Still no flavor from latakia, but burleys are starting to taste better. Smoked some Two Timer the other day...

That's not a bad price. Hopefully it will be a good smoker.

El Morjane Algerian Briar Pipe Score

If you don't mind doing some cleaning, they can be pretty good smokers, and I have gotten very good smokes from mine. Considering how much time and effort I had to put into cleaning them, at this point I'd say they aren't really worth the hassle. Whether or not you will get a functional and...

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

That is a concerning possibility. The fact that my problem fluctuates in severity makes me think it probably isn't something like that, but it might be worth checking on.

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

I've considered holding onto it in case something changes, but it's been getting progressively worse for years, so I'm not expecting an improvement. I'm just glad I can still taste my food.

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I've experienced this with brand new pipes, and I do keep my pipes pretty clean, so I don't think it's a dirty pipe issue. Given that the problem started before the pandemic hit, I don't think I can pin it on Covid-19, either. It's a really weird...

    Losing My Taste For Tobacco

31, probably too young to be affected by any age-related sensory loss. As far as I can tell, all food tastes normal. Spirits often taste sour, and I can't really taste the smoke in a smoky single malt whisky anymore.
