    Time for a clay pipe.

Old Dominion clay pipes are great. My favorite is the Williamsburg. Old German also have some nice ones, but the finish will likely be a little more rough. Can't go wrong with either as long as you're careful with them, as they are fragile.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

I'm interested to hear about the results and what changes you noticed after hydration.

Now THAT is a handsome pipe. I love it.

Another bottom-shelf smoke; Smoker's Pride Classic Blend in an El Morjane Algerian Briar paneled billiard. First time smoking this blend. I'm surprised it took me this long to get around to trying it, given that I'm a fan of the OTC genre and SP products in general. It's alright, but lacks the...

Smoking Tobacco Based on the Season - Yes or No?

I pretty much smoke whatever I want whenever I want, but when it's hot out, I tend to reach past the heavy latakia-bombs for the Virginias, burleys, and aromatics. No hard and fast rules, though. If I find myself wanting some Pirate Kake in August, then I'll have some.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2024?***

Enjoyed the wonderfully warm early afternoon out on the deck, chilling with my cat and some C&D Crooner in a cob. This was my first time smoking a deertongue blend, but it wasn't as weird as I expected. I liked it, but will wait until I finish the tin before deciding if it will be a repeat...

    Have Ropp Prices Gone up?

Standard cobs like a Legend should still be under $10, and of course a bit more for the nicer ones with plugs. That's what U.S. retailers typically have them priced at, anyway.

    Have Ropp Prices Gone up?

So it's you driving the pipeflation, dammit! I agree though, they're great pipes, and I like that most of their range are smaller in size. I just refill if I want to smoke more. French pipes are very underrated.

    The Most Disappointing Tobacco

I've heard before of that issue, but mine happens to pass a cleaner easily and has a fairly easy and open draw, as I prefer. Perhaps I lucked out. I'm not much of a clencher and I like the narrower lip on the horn stem. I would definitely consider getting more of them.

    Have Ropp Prices Gone up?

They seem to have gone up a little from when I was looking at them about a year ago. I want to say that the Etudiant Sandblast pipes were around $42 regular price then, and now they're $55. Perhaps they are catching on and becoming more popular. I've certainly been seeing more mentions of Ropp...

    The Most Disappointing Tobacco

What'd you get? I really like my Ropp Vintage Sandblast 639P. I'm thinking about replacing some of my pipes that I'm leaning "meh" on with some Ropps.

    You Are All Enablers

It's true! Tobacco is the real temptation for me. Must... have... more. Always. More.

    The Most Disappointing Tobacco

I have not, but it might be one to try. I've heard good things about it.

    You Are All Enablers

Oh, I definitely could, but I have pretty good self-control when it comes to buying pipes. Now tobacco, on the other hand, I tend to purchase impulsively and in large quantities.

    You Are All Enablers

You meerschaum-evangelists got me. I did so well for a while not buying any more pipes. I now have a little meer of my own on the way. This will be my first - an AKB block "Billiard" (really more of a small stack/chimney). I'm looking forward to seeing how it smokes.

Did You Lose Your Taste for Aromatics Over Time?

Started out with Captain Black regular and enjoyed it for what it was. I find myself reaching for non-aros more often than aros these days. I still smoke some aromatics, but I prefer drier ones that still have some tobacco flavor - not so much the really moist ones and blends that taste like...

    Tobacco pipes.com Concierge Retail Experience

Correction: just checked P&C, and it looks like they fixed the pipe specs problem.

    Tobacco pipes.com Concierge Retail Experience

Agree. It seems that some retailers underestimate the value of having a modern, streamlined, organized, searchable website, which is one of the main reasons I mostly buy from SP rather than TP, CoJ, or P&C. Unfortunately P&C updated their site recently and some of the features were removed, like...

    Pipes Are Great

I like that it's a hobby that is open to all, pretty much regardless of income level. You can get started with a cob, a pouch of some OTC, a pipe nail, and some cleaners for under $15. You could just stick with that if you want, or you could go all out and commission some artisan pipes and smoke...

    Jim's C&D Toscano Maestro Reviews.

Concerto is definitely going into my SP cart. Thanks for the excellent reviews, as always.
