Christmas greetings & smokes. From your part of the world.

Merry Christmas to all from Southern Indiana, light misty rain all day. Wonderful Church Service this morning. Chinese Buffet with family this afternoon. Finally getting to sit down and enjoy a bowl. Something new from a local B&M. Getting ready to watch Sunday night Football. All is good.

A return to The Pipe..& thereby hangs a tale.....

For me I don't need a study to tell me that between cigarettes and pipe, pipe is the lesser evil. You might think it would be the cheaper option too. I think that can be so, but a guy would have to stay away from places like this. Folks around here will have ya talked into spending more on...

    Scary Stuff.

We had our insurance meetings at work last week. Starting this spring we will have a "voluntary health screening". If you partake you get a discount on your rate. To get the discount the following years you need to "improve your score". I'm a little on the sweet side myself (type 2) but have to...

    Minneapolis Move Successful - Pics

I use to read a blog about a guy that road a scooter year round in the twin cities. He stopped the blog several years ago, he talked about ice a lot. You will be fine once you get the lay of the joint. Might put up a couple sheets of plastic to block the wind and that swing will be great.

The (Introverted) Pipe Smoker's Guide to the Office Christmas Party

If one is invited and its voluntary to attend, its a party. If you are expected to be there it is either work time you are not paid for or a day when no profitable work gets done. I can buy my own fruit cake. My wife knows my thoughts on this and continues to call the Christmas function at my...

    Too hot to handle

Its been my limited observation that overall my cobs smoke cooler than my briar. If you are having trouble with a hot cob, your likely to have trouble with a briar. I would work on drier, how you pack it and speed.

    My tobacco jarring method

Yaddy: MY tobacco jarring method: Put tobacco in jar. Put lid on jar. Am I sure I did it right? YUP. I'm with Yaddy, to the letter. But mine has only been tested over years, not decades. But I am not worried either way. Tobacco is not like green beans or tomatoes, it lights much easier...

Can pipe tobacco ever be TOO dry? (Preference aside)

If you have it in a jar and the lid at least looks like its on it, I don't think too dry will be a concern by spring. I would at least plan a bowl for New Years, just to lay your fears...

    Got pulled over tonight.

I won't go into much detail but I was once pulled over out of state in a work van. It was very late at night we where headed back to the hotel from work. We had a head light out, so we found out. Long and short of it, it was the second closest I have come to being shot. He ended up sending us...

Moving on from Peterson and Savinelli

I got a Dr. G that is drilled right and smokes good. I guess I could let if go for $500. Call it hand picked if it helps. :D I don't think I can help much if there is a difference in very good and perfect I wouldn't notice it and am pretty sure I couldn't afford it. Good luck with your search.

Frog Morton on the Town scent??

This is why reviews are of limited value. The Frog is a favorite of a lot of people. I absolutely hate it, the "tin note" is almost enough to make me wretch. My wife will not even allow it to be opened in the house! lol My point is just because a lot of people like it or hate it, its still...

Half & Half blast from the past

I had a barrel of monkeys when I was a kid. Use to see them at yard sales now and again. This one was empty and as clean inside as it is outside. I would guess that back when sold new the contents where sealed separately with in the decanter. Just because I don't see the seal as being any...

Risk if any of my pipe habit

Some will see this and think its too long to read. But when I say I smiled when I read the oral sex reference, they might reconsider...
