Praise For Classic American Pipes (Cheap AND Good)

I have two Webers, a Rhodesian and a Scoop that see a ton of action. One was free...literally pulled from the trash. The other I got for about 10 bucks on ebay. I also have two Grabows that seem to smoke pretty well but we're still getting to know each other.

What Are You Smoking? July 2013

Frog Morton in an old Weber Rhodesian. Coffee. After smoking Frog for the last 5ish days, I'm finding it a little light.

    First Smoke of the Day

Homeatsea. I hear your friend. Its a nice subtle smoke. I've been smoking it almost exclusively since last Friday. Usually I tend to start the day with a bowl of LBF or Irish Oak to perk me up. I love getting the coffee going and then packing a pipe and charring it while the coffee brews...

    Crossover Tobaccos: Aro to Va

I haven't tried a huge amount of tobaccos but I think 4Noggin's Prairie Wind could be an option. I know it's got a smidge of Perique in it, but it's very light and I think the tobacco is topped with something. I always think vanilla. It's just a cool, sweet, well balanced smoke IMO.

    Peterson Old Dublin

Because of a thread about it a few days ago I went to my local BM to pick up a tin. They didn't have it so I grabbed more Jubilee (always!) and Frog Morton. Old Dublin is really high on my short list. I haven't smoked any other Peterson except for Irish Oak, but I really enjoy that.

My New Cumberland Stem Back From Norwood's

Damn Six. Your a classy guy, but I don't think even you can handle that much class hanging off your face. That is sharp.

    Good Tobacco

Welcome Mark! Two things out of two-hundred. 1. Getting an understanding of the tobacco types, blends, and traits is crucial to your enjoyment. My enjoyment really opened up when I started trying Virginias, VaPers, Englishes, and Balkans. From those broad families I could start dialing in...

When Did This Forum Become The Show Off Forum?

I think you've always got to filter any forum and decide how much is actual signal and how much is actually noise. Ace, I don't exactly follow what your talking about BUT I hope you stick around. Different styles, opinions, and budgets are what make this place interesting to me. Edit: Ditto...

    On It's Way to Me

Good for you! The only Meerschaum I've kept out of the few I've bought has been a Peterson one. Let us know how she smokes.

    Mario Grandi On Order

Its not a deal breaker for me. Just something I'd keep in mind if I bought another. I don't think the rain coat softie would help. Your going to like your Grandi. Mine tasted great with hardly any break in time.

Putting Old Briar Back in Service

Dur I'm tired of telling you how nice your restores are. Heh. Nice stuff. Even if you don't keep em at least your putting back into the pool clean and in good shape for someone else. Some of these older pipes aren't going to be around in 50 years without people restoring them now.

My Restorations From Today (Pic Heavy)

Great job on those restos Captain. You put some life back in those pipes.

Is it Time to Upgrade the Pipe or Not?

There's some great advice already given here. But you mentioned a specific pipe with no link so I'm assuming you don't want someone else to snipe it. Don't hesitate to PM some of us fine folks about specific questions. I've bugged Harris, Roth, Kash, Cortez, etc with PMs about advice on...
