    Best Of The Best

On the Virginia forward angle.... McCelland's Tudor Castle Butra's Blended Flake Rattray's Red Rapparee English, of which I don't have a ton of experience... Wilderness Dunhill Early Morning Pipe Leo

    Squadron Leader

rsuninv sent me a ton of it and I've been smoking it all weekend. I'm starting to become a big fan of it. It's got that nice sweet mild English taste to it, but about mid bowl it tends to get hazy on me. I'm noticing in smaller bowls, I get a much more pronounce Oriental taste/smell while in a...

    What's your stem resto tricks?

On old stems I use a bic lighter first. I do this instead of oxyclean or bleach most times. Then it's wet sanding/flat files, buffing compound, and chapstick. Works for me. Honestly I try and avoid vulcanite in new pipes, but I'm a sucker for a cheap piece of Algerian briar. I think I...

    Morning Smokes

Peterson's Irish Oak accompanied by a cup of black coffee is a fantastic morning smoke for me. Perks me right up. However most mornings it's PS LBF in a cob and a cup of coffee.

    Latest TAD's

Chelsea Morning is very under rated in my opinion. It's got this creaminess to it. I wish I could drink it.

    Any Gamers On Here?

I belong to a casual raiding guild in WoW, but I've done the hardcore thing in the past. I started MMO's with Ultima Online (Catskills server) back in the day. I've played a bit of Gears of War, but I'm at the point where my son has out classed me and looks at me with disdain when he head...

The UPS person rang the doorbell

Yes. The pipe guys carry it. Enjoy! I've wanted to try Squadron Leader, but I think Skiff is more my style. It's on my short list.

Why Do Pipes Attract the Most Generous People in the World? It's a Stick!

Tobacco and spirits in my family have always been something the "men" (and no disrespect to the ladies) have gathered around apart from the rest family gatherings. I remember as a boy going out on the porch and just playing on the floor as my Dad and Grandfather talked with Uncles and...

    Favorite Bourbon Whiskey?

I've really been happy with Woodford Reserve as of late. Tasty. Works better then my high blood pressure meds do.

Peter Stokkebye Luxury Bulls Eye Flake

I love it. It's a bit "dry" right out of the gate but seems to move sweeter after 6 months. It has more of a grassy hay sweetness then LNF's citrus IMO. Love looking at those coins. When I die they have put 2 on each eye before they seal me up.

    Newbie Shopping List

Welcome! I might recommend grabbing two cobs,a bic lighter, and a pipe nail to get yourself started. (Sometimes things like 1Q can ghost or "scent" a pipe so the next time you smoke it you get that 1Q flavor again.) I usually headed to Smoking Pipes when I'm ready to order something (see link...

    West Central Indiana Pipers

Bah. I'm up in South Bend. All we have are potholes and Notre Dame. Although we do have a Tinder Box next door in Mishawaka.

My first month of pipe smoking

I love my Savinelli natural. Best bargain pipe I've ever bought. About Virginia's. I found myself fairly "meh" about Virginas until I started smoking McCelland's. To me (and this is just me) most Virginias fall into two categories. Hay/dry/lighter/honey toast-ish and...

My First High Grade Cob... Orange Is The New Black

Autumn Evening feels like someone is pressing a strip of thin metal to the roof of my mouth and it's causing a reaction. EMP is one of my favorites, but only if I've got time to sip it. I can't smoke it on the move or it ends up just tasting like an ashtray. Agnostic. Yeah. It was a poor...

My First High Grade Cob... Orange Is The New Black

Nice cob. Just an aside. I have a R.Santia cob. He was a great guy to deal with, it smoked great, and the plaster or whatever it is broke apart from the bowl after about 10 smokes and no rough treatment. I only smoked it on the weekend and it could just be a bad pipe, but for $80 I won't be...

    Restore burnt rim?

Great advice. I'll top a bowl without much hesitation and sand the whole pipe. No stain. No wax. They liked being naked.

McClelland Top Hat & Black Tie

I hate questions like this, but is it along the lines of PS LBF but with McCelland Virginias? Flavor not presentation. Very much looking forward to trying this.

    Re-staining a Rusticated Pipe

Nice job on the stem. The bowl looks brindled.

    Re-staining a Rusticated Pipe

How deep is the rustication? If it's deep enough you can lightly sand the "top" layer and then give it a nice light stain. This can contrast with the deeper, darker, rusticated bits. Must. See. Pics.
