November, 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Still hooked on this tin of Balkan Sasieni. I suspect I will need to restock. In the 70F's out here in the desert but a cold slap of winter is on the way. :puffy:

    New Balkan Sobranie

Puffing on some Balkan Sasieni as I read this thread and if the new Sobranie is even remotely close to how good the current Sasieni is, I'll be impressed.

    Have any favorite "mistake" blends?

I like the ghosting effect as well. I don't tend to dedicate certain pipes to certain blends so I have a slew of haunted pipes. I regularly encounter all sorts of pleasant mistakes. :puffy:

    New to pipesmoking; no taste

Sip some smoke into your mouth then inhale some air in through your nose. Then let the the smoke trickle out of your mouth. You should taste something. It takes a bit of time but you will get it. You might want to move to a non aromatic blend with a little more fullness. I always recommend...

    Holiday Excursion Pipe Tobacco Question

Never smoked it but I believe it is a copy of an old discontinued mixture that was called Holiday. Check tobaccoreviews.com for some reviews of it.

November, 2011 - What are you Smoking?

A blend called Black Forest from now defunct thepiperoom.com. Syrian latakia and black cavendish. Tastes like smokey chocolate and cherries. I really miss this resource for 'baccy. They had some great blends... :(

Prince Albert in the GBD Rockroot along with fresh coffee, a good book and bright November sunshine on the back porch. Low 70F's out here on the high desert. Perfecto! :puffy:

    Holiday Tobacco Recommendations

MacBaren Plumcake usually tops my holiday smoke list. C&D Crooner and some brandy in front of the fireplace works pretty good too.

    Deoxidize a Stem?

I found a set of videos on youtube on restoring pipes. I followed this method when I got my pipes from the Vegas Pipe Show with the exception that I used cotton balls instead of kosher salt for the bowls. It worked out pretty good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4fq0siIh5I&feature=related
