November, 2011 - What are you Smoking?

Cool down in the desert. Only made it to 62F today. I'm sitting in the sun with some Gold Burley in a Grabow. :puffy: Damn, I like that monkey pipe OTD!

What Do You Guys Do With Empty Tins?

Yes. I cut out a hole in the box to snug fit the tin. It has a bit of a resonator/banjo tone. I also slapped a piezo transducer to the bottom of the tin with a volume knob and jack so it can be plugged in. Sounds really dirty and nasty through my tube amp. Put the reverb to ten and let that...

Ozark Hardwood Pipes From Missouri Meerschaum

I have one and it smokes. Not well but it smokes. My biggest complaint is the bowl gets as hot as a poker. This forces me to smoke REALLY slow and I'm usually not that patient. YMMV.

    Spook Day

Holy crap, jcsnaps! Merry Christmas! Mid 80's for Halloween in the Vegas desert. I'm out of Haunted Bookshop so I more likely will be pulling on this wonderful Dreamcastle Gold Burley I resurrected from the dead. Happy Samhain, everyone!

    Becoming A Tobacconist.

To be a baker you have to be an early riser (no pun intended). When I was in college I worked in the Student Union bakery. It was interesting and you will build some upper body strength working that dough. But, I had to be there at 4 a.m. and the walk across the frozen campus on a dark winter...

October, 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

Goin' old school on this unseasonably warm Halloween. Dreamcastle Gold Burley in a Dr. Grabow. The Gold Burley is from an old bag I picked up at CVS years ago. After a little remoistening, this is one really nice smoke! I have transferred it to a glass candy jar I found in storage. It's that...

    The taste of Grousemoor

Peaty, mossy, grassy, maybe a bit of sea kelp with an undercurrent of wildflowers. I have to thank Lawrence specifically for "coaxing" me to give this blend a shot. When I saw a few tins at my local B&M I picked one up. It was a blustery, rainy day when I cracked the tin. Initial whiff was...

October, 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

8 a.m. and it's coffee and Dunhill London Mixture on the desert back porch. Autumn leaves are beginning to fall.

October, 2011 - What are you Smoking? II

The cat that adopted me the other day instructed me to go out and get it some proper cat food - it was apparently not pleased with my offering of dry Cheerios. We are now on the back porch; me with fresh coffee in the mug and Crooner in a Stanwell, the snoozing cat with a full belly of budget...
