    Call out to Comoy experts: Guildhall is a seconds label for Comoy. The Guildhall and Everyman seconds had 3 parallel metal bars embedded in the stem. Anyone know if and when the company used the 3 piece "C" on the seconds? :D

    RE:Balk. Yes the 5:o'clock is a very tasty blend. The unadvertised "Stevens Own" is probably a Va/Per. SWMBO, uncharacteristically, even liked the room note. As usual for HOC, it burned to fine ash in a gourd calabash.

    I am very sad to hear this. I have visited his shop many times on my trips to Oregon. He was very engaging fellow and a great Tobacconist. I hope that his daughter can keep up his blends. RIP Steven!

    Anyone Else Get A Sore Throat From Smoking Perique?

    I am not bothered by Red Virginia or Perique. But, I have had some tobaccos that irritated the back of my throat. I gave them a fair trial but in the end I found a way to trade them off. And, I heard no complaints from the "new" owner.

    I got some Grand Orientals that I wanted. Notice I did not say needed. TAD again after I have resisted so well! I tried one at the Sacramento Pipe Club Meeting two meetings ago and it was love. Oh well. 8)

    Only had one that so so bad that I couldn't smoke it. I soaked it in water for 24 hrs and put the dark liquid in a spray bottle. I use it to spray plants to kill the bugs..

    OK, OK OK. I can't believe no one has suggested that an alternative to the Zippo, fuel dispencer, is the Nimrod Commander. A similar flint/liquid fuel lighter which holds the fuel much longer, much longer. Alright back in my bunker...incoming!!! :rofl:

    Back before my memory takes me, I had a leather covered mer lined brier. It smoked too humid. It may have been and probably was manufactured mer. I did not like it and tossed it. Ah the days of youth and cheap pipes

    Thanks Death:rofl: :rofl: I smoked "Old Chipawa Straight" many years ago. It was non tobacco and without any Psychoactive component. The smell and taste was wonderful. But, there was no calming or relaxing effect as with tobacco. So, a light Nicotine smoke will be just a mild sedative...

    I do like EMP also. But, the Latakia is in the background for me. You might try one of the MC Grand Orientals or a Virginia like Dunhill Flake. Or John Cotton 1 or 1 & 2.

    Briar Patch in Sacramento has two stores. The larger has not been able to renew its lease. Not sure why but I will bet it is more anti tobacco ideology. Loehmann's Plaza store to close by mid June, :crazy: :crying: 8)
