    Dunhill Appraisal?

Threads like this one started me visiting local antique shops. Nothing yet, but you hit the mother load with that Dunhill. Beautiful! With continued care, it will still look the same 50 years from now. Great find.

    Cherry Aromatic Tobacco

So many posts about 7 Seas Red. I'm going to give it a try.

Sir Walter Raleigh Regular - Pipe Tobacco Review

It occurs to me that, in all these years as a pipe smoker, I've never tried SWR in spite of the fact that both my father and grandfather smoked it religiously. Now that I'm my grandfather's age, perhaps it's time I tried a bowl. Thanks.

How Short is a Nose Warmer

As OCD reports, there's no hard and fast rule per length. The main attribute rests with the odd proportions of the pipe, eg. short shank with a large bowl. A frien showed me one earlier this week. I've never been a fan due, in part, to my odd sized nose.

    Smoking indoors

I'm generally outside when my pipe is lit but, on Sunday afternoons when it's just me and a Savinelli, I happily smoke at my desk. Heavenly.

Cleaning With Alcohol - What Alcohol?

I agree with the others. Don't over think it. Any good alcohol should work just fine. I get mine at CVS.

    I think I got a good deal

At first glance, that "P" left me thinkin it was a Peterson. Great lines and, with a bit of loving care, it should clean up nicely. You done good, my friend.

    Humidor/Pipe Rack: a vanished memory?

Yup, OTD, my dad had one just like yours. I grew up looking at that thing. Thanks for the trip back in time.

    Misc. Baccy pouches?

I generally use a ziplock bag given to me by a local tobacconist when I bought some house blend. Now that I think about it, a $6.95 leather pouch might be kind of nice.

    Free at last!

I'm 61 like ejames, but expect to remain at the helm of Sandtree Family Therapy for as long as I am able. I am blessed with a job I truly love and with a list of clients I consider friends. It's a good life and I ain't leaving until I must.

    My Two Petersons, Molly Malone

Remarkable differences in each of the classic shapes shown. Beautiful pipes from a grand old maker. Congratulations on a good eye, and welcome to the brotherhood.

    Bonafiglia "Starter Pipes"

I especially like the relatively thick wall surrounding your bowl. Should make a fine hand warmer on these cool winter days. Take some of the advice from the brothers relative to finishes and it should shine like a star in the clear winter sky. Very nice.

    Pipes in Civil War history

Thank you for posting. I've always been interested in history, especially the American Civil War.

Are Dunhill Pipes Even Worth It?

Most of you know I am deeply attached to my collection of pipes. Some have been with me for more than 40 years and all look as wonderful (or better) than on the day they were purchased. I'm especially pleased by the fact that they reflect the work of eight countries. This includes Great...

    Cleaning a Pipe TOO OFTEN?

I often smoke more than one bowl in a single day. In that case, I run a dry cotton pipe cleaner down the shank (still attached) and then dust out the bowl with the same pipe cleaner doubled over itself. Next day, every day, I give the now cooled pipe a thorough cleaning with alcohol, a shank...
