    Which Professions Smoke Pipes?

It might be a bit cliche, but I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist (with a beard) and started smoking a pipe in 1970.

    Guitar Players?

I've been playing guitar since high school...more years than I care to mention. This is one of my favorites, an Ovation VXT that I just played at church.

    Fixing Loose Stems

A thousand thanks, Greg. I've had a Ropp Cherrywood for more than 30 years that is now good as new. Great advice!

    La Strada Centurion

A gift from Sicily to the world...1970s La Strada. She smokes as good as she looks.

    Savinelli Church Warden

I finally got myself a church warden. It's a Savinelli with a10 inch stem and smokes as wonderfully as the other Savs in my collection. My wife STRONGLY questioned my need for another pipe, so I thought my friends at this community might better understand how a beautiful new pipe can be quite...

    Rosewood Warning

Rothnh has summarized this issue well. When considering a pipe purchase, especially in these troubled times, be certain the maker is a familiar one. If not, this forum is a fine place to ask questions before laying down your hard earned dollars. Over the years I have spent with this community of...

Inexpensive Savinellis - Worth the Money ??

I have several Savs in my collection. They are all wonderful pipes. Quality control is always job 1 with these people. You can't go wrong with a Savinelli no matter what the price might be.

    Rosewood Warning

It was on eBay. It's description specifically spoke of the "cool smoke." They even included pipe cleaners and filters. I should have known better.

    Rosewood Warning

It was a Lucienne, dhizzy. Yet another reason to stick with what you know and trust.

Looking to Buy a Gandalf-Style Pipe. Facing a Dilemma and in Need of Advice.

I just purchased a beautiful Savinelli church warden at www.pipesandcigars.com. It's a pipe Gandalf would be proud to own.

    Rosewood Warning

I have been smoking pipes for more than 40 years so this is a bit embarrassing. There are 31 wonderful pipes in my collection including briars, meers and a Ropp cherrywood. When I recently came across a nice looking and reasonably priced piece with a rosewood bowl it drew my interest. I...

    AM Pipe & Coffee

This is among my favorite times of day and one of my most cherished daily rituals. Enjoy, my friend.

Smoking A Pipe Outside In Florida

I live in Florida and smoke my pipe outside almost exclusively. A great flake surely helps during a summer in the tropics, but a great friend to share the experience is the real key. There's something timeless about lighting up a favorite briar in the company of an old friend.

    Should I Get A Tattoo ?

Go for it, Puffy. The one argument I always hear from the anti tat crowd is " How will you like it 50 years from now when it's all wrinkled and faded." We don't need to worry about "50 years from now" any more. Be free, my friend.

    Pristine Savinelli

Great find! I love the Savinelli brand. Great pipes at a reasonable price.

    PAD Strikes again!

I had a similar experience about a month ago when a friend who manages a local consignment shop sent me a photo of this meer. I resisted for nearly five minutes before asking him to hold it for me. This is pipe number 30. My wife still doesn't know.

    Kiseru

Thank you, Lawrence. Those were my thoughts on the matter when I started this thread. Plus, I must admit, I really wanted to show off this beautiful piece of Asian craftsmanship.

Praise For Classic American Pipes (Cheap AND Good)

There are more than 30 great pipes in my collection from all over Europe and the Orient. My Kaywoodie Oom Paul is a favorite for all the right reasons. It has a wonderfully beefy bowl that will smoke for over an hour. It has a beautiful dark finish, a healthy comfortable stem and I even like the...

    Kiseru

I submit, as always, to the wisdom of Kevin. Just know that this has been a staple of pipe smokers in Japan since 1570 and I thought it warranted a bit of attention on our site.

    Kiseru

The tobacco is called kizami; and (with apologies to my Japanese friends) the proper name for the pipe is actually "Kiseru". It's a short smoke (about 5 minutes) but is a most interesting experience.
