    Favorite Peterson Pipe Finish

I'm looking to get a new Peterson Sherlock Holmes pipe and am torn between the rusticated and sandblasted finishes. So, which do you all like best? Also, if you feel like putting yourselves out there, which shape do you prefer?

Best Cigar Lighter You Own 11/23/23

Good ones here! I gave up on pricey lighters a long while back due to losing and or having them 'Borrowed' ! A nice $15.00 Lotus or Vertigo is fine and actually more dependable. Usually last me 3-4 years. I'd rather put my coin on a decent cutter!

    White Resin in Pipe

No such thing as plume or bloom - it's a myth, legend, fairy tale, etc. Scientific testing seems to confirm what we've always suspected, but been hesitant to admit: there's no such thing as plume. The good folks over at Friends of Habanos put out a reward for anyone who can provide a cigar with...

    White Resin in Pipe

Pipe mud to reinforce the bottom of the pipe. Used when the pipe has been well used and usually significantly charred in the lower bowl. Used to prevent burn-through.

Can I Use Open Tins for Storage or Move to Jars?

I've made the mistake of leaving tobacco in a tin after opening and then storing in that tin. Dried out within 4 months. This was a tin of Nightcap. Fortunately, it was not totally crispy, so I was able to re-hydrate and save it. Now, I jar all f my opened tins. Cheap insurance. I'm in hot...

    Adding Staves to Tobacco Jars

I once tried adding a bit of coffee flavor to a blend. Put the tobacco into a baggie with a couple of ounces of nice, strong Sumatra coffee beans for a month. After the 30 days, opened the baggie and it actually did smell like strong coffee. Removed the beans and put the tobacco into a mason...

What Tobaccos do You Not Cellar?

I buy to stock up, to cellar for future availability and when prices are good on my preferred blend styles. According to some here, I'm screwed!!! Most of my cellar consists of English and Scottish! Have to admit, a nice Penzance or Nightcap tin with some 5-10 years on it that has been...

Increasing a Blend's Nicotine Content Without Altering the Flavor?

I like to add just a touch of GH or SG Brown Rope to a mild blend. That does not change the taste much at all and adds a lot of body.

    What Might You Add?

Say you are relaxing with a preferred drink, a favorite pipe from the rotation and starting a flavorful, but rather mild English blend that is a bit light for your taste. What would you add to bulk it up a bit in strength without appreciably changing the taste profile? hahau I expect some...

Branching out to English Style Blends with Casing.

As shown above, Jeremy Reeves, head blender at C&D, has a great presentation on casing & topping on you tube. Very good information and clearly explains the difference. Apparently, not all blends are cased or topped and he offers examples of blends that one can try to compare the with and...

Branching out to English Style Blends with Casing.

First off, I am a fan of latakia and do not like full-on aromatics. Don't really care for lat bombs, but do like a good smoky blend. I'd like to get into some quality latakia blends with a light, but noticeable casing flavoring. Would anyone be so kind as to make suggestions?
