    Old Knickerbocker and Kaywoodie Restoration

@snagstagl, thanks for the link to the Knickerbocker Smoking Pipe Co. listing. While there I got hooked on leafing through pages of old pipe catalogs!

Wifes Birth Year Pipe Fail... But What Is It? (Pic Heavy)

As far as I'm concerned, not even knowing anything about that pipe, you hit gold! I love pipes that are out of the ordinary like that one. I'm pretty sure the insert is to control the airflow by turning the ring on the stem. Besides the grain looks pretty good to me. Not much ventured but...

    Old Knickerbocker and Kaywoodie Restoration

I just added two estates to my burgeoning ... accumulation of old briar. The first is an oddly familiar looking pipe with a gold filled band and the ever familiar circle on the stem. However, I don't think it's a Yello-Bole or some Cadogan sub-brand. The ordinary quality of the briar makes me...

    pipes for the wife

I have several pipes on "standby" for when my wife decides to join me. She tends to like the smaller bowled pipes with a gently bent stem. Something like a Prince shape with a longer stem seems to suit her. Why don't you have her Google something "pipes for women" or "Feminine tobacco pipes"...

    Churchwarden

yllwbeard wrote: Sure, there are lots of posts about them here on the forums. Here's one: ]Wellington Pipes They are not high quality pipes but can be had on the cheap from ebay and might be an alternative to the smaller bowl churchwardens. I'm referring to the "jumbo" size Wellingtons since...

    Churchwarden

They are nice pipes for sitting and reading but a bit of a hindrance if you need to be up and doing things. If I'm going to be weighted down by such a pipe I prefer to have one with a larger bowl than churchwardens tend to have. So if I am choosing between one of my churchwardens or a Wellington...

Last Day with my Best Friend

So many condolences posted here in a short period of time shows how many of us have loved and lost our pet companions. They fill such a large space in our hearts it does hurt when they are taken from us. I recently suffered the loss of Aries, one of our two cats. Aries was the smarter one and...

What Am I Gonna Do With This Thing?

@ jarit, I really appreciate your efforts. Thanks a lot! Just about every estate pipe has some sort of story behind it. This one must be one of the more interesting ones. Here's a close up of the bowl. I tried turning down the contrast to try get some detail but it's just not there. I'll have...

A pipe I restored for a friend of mine

danielplainview typed: That really is a beauty, a great restoration job and just the kind of pipe of been getting out-bid on for months! Your friend is lucky on two counts, he has a great friend and a great pipe!

    Surprised by Medico

I like my Medico Medalist. As I've mentioned before, my Jet Streams are great. The Gold Crest and VFQ lines have some winners. You have to be a little luckier getting a good Medico than you would for a Kaywoodie. There must be thousands of Medicos on ebay so you definitely have a choice.

    naked woman pipe

SleezeBay is replete with those Peruvian porn pipes. The one pictured appears to be ..."broken in" already.

What Am I Gonna Do With This Thing?

I'm going with the Finland origin theory for now since the bowl carving looks very similar to the one in jarit's picture. In one of the seller's pictures it looks like the bowl has a white interior. I guess I'll know more after it gets here next week.

What Am I Gonna Do With This Thing?

Good thought. I'll examine it carefully after it gets here. Wonder if I can get an asbestos test kit online.... The stummel looks like a jumbo Wellington. I'll do some research before lighting up.

*sigh*, Yes. That a 24 inch flexible canvas stem on that puppy.

What Am I Gonna Do With This Thing?

I saw this in my ebay feed with 30 seconds left on the auction and casually bid up the $14.50 bid by fifty cents thinking someone probably has me covered anyway. Oops, I win! Now I'm the proud owner of this... thing. I need a breathalyzer app on my computer to keep this from happening again.

    Drug interaction and nicotine

We just legalized it here in Oregon and every county and city is lining up to impose taxes on it. It looks like the legal price is going to be three times the black market price. I think a similar thing happened in the state of Washington.

    Drug interaction and nicotine

Give your pharmacist a call or ask for a consult when you get your next refill. I'll bet they'll have some answers for you.

    eBay Wins

Toby, I think PAD's got a death grip on you! :-) I wish I had your budget! Those are all great pipes and wonderful bargains as well. Kaywoodies are my favorites. I'm envious!
