    What's your Weather like?

I live in Portland, Oregon. So it's rain....rain until June or July.

Sometimes, My Friends, Nothing Matters But The Smoke

I was listening to "The Seven Last Words of Jesus Christ" by Heinrich Schutz while enjoying my Friday night pipe tonight. It's amazing how the centuries melt away with a good smoke. Of course the Canadian Mist helps the effect, but the pipe is central. Great post Anthony. so true.

    New Pipe Smoker-Pipe Identification

I'd enjoy seeing a picture of your your dad's pipe. Check the forum stickies for directions on how to post pictures. Welcome to the forums!

My Wife Bought A Pipe - Molded Briar?

Manufacturers have been experimenting with alternate pipe making materials for many years. I have a 1930s Douglas pipe that is made from pressed and formed briar and it smokes very nicely. I'd put some Molto Dolce in there and give it a try....carefully though.

Booooo I Haven't Been Able To Smoke A pipe In Two Weeks!

I know the feeling. When the economic downturn started five or six years ago the hospital cut a lot FTEs. Now we have patients parked in hallways awaiting rooms. Have we added staff back? Nope. I'm looking forward to stuffing one of my Jumbo Wellingtons with a choice tobacco on Friday night and...

hello can anyone help me find out about my new pipe

Here's a Comet Tobacco image: If it is a premium pipe it could still be quite collectible, like the Dr Grabow Belvedere pipes. I'd still love to see a picture of it.

    Welcoming Peterson No.3

metalheadycigarguy, when you are in a position to treat yourself to a new pipe I think Peterson pipes are maybe a very good combination of thrift and quality. That Aran Oom Paul was just under a hundred bucks. That's not the kind of money I can just spend without budgeting, but when some extra...

Pipe smoking and health. A personal story

Happy to hear your good report. The only thing that's going to kill me is overwork. I don't recall every reading anything about that in the SG's report! newbroom is right. I assume you are going to follow up on whatever is causing your chest pains? I'm guessing your heart is fine but you have...

    Welcoming Peterson No.3

danielplainview said: Yes, and if this PAD keeps up it just may come again. trailboss requested: I'm not very good describing how things taste, but I will say in comparison to PS Balkan Supreme which I am very familiar with it's a little more subtle and refined or complex, I think some might...

hello can anyone help me find out about my new pipe

I found a reference to a Comet tobacco brand. Maybe it's a premium pipe. Directions for uploading pictures are Posting Pictures

    Welcoming Peterson No.3

I cashed in some more paid leave in advance of some new tax rules for next year and picked up this Peterson Aran Oom Paul as well as a pound of Larry's Blend. (Thanks Pipes & Cigars for throwing in the free knife!) I just started breaking it in last night. (The pipe, not the knife) That hefty...

Two Antique Shop Finds - Golden Oldies?

Those are my kind of pipes! The Medico looks like one my Grandpa would smoke while listening to his ball games.

    Peter Stokebbye Bulk

I was little disappointed that my beloved Balkan Supreme wasn't included in the PS sale blends.

    Medico pipes

My Medico Jet Streams are always in my rotation. There are others I pick up from time to time. The Guardsmans are good pipes. The older Medicos can be very good buys. I recently picked up my second Medico Brylon pipe, this Onyx: For a six dollar pipe...well...hey, it works! And as many here...

My Totally Non Scientific Observation About My Best Smokers

For a year or more I only bought old estate pipes. When I started buying new comparably shaped pipes I was a little surprised at the heft and density of them. It would be interesting to know from an expert what changes briar undergoes after 30, 60 or eighty years.

The infamous Kyle Black.......is back?, from Marty Pulvers "The Mill"

I've been bidding in auctions when a seller suddenly cancels my bid and ends the auction at the last minute. I don't think sellers should be allowed to do that. After all, my bid is considered my promise to pay if I win. I think the seller should have the same commitment in accepting my bid to...

    Near-Death Experiences

I had an experiance very much like Frankenstein's except I was able to exit my room and move several blocks away to visit a friend of mine. I wanted to show him what I could do. I vividly remember floating at the same level as the traffic lights at the intersection. I had never seen one from...

Supergrain with original box: Rescue attempt

Nice find and beautiful rescue! I also have a Kaywoodie "Hand Made" Supergrain in the original sock and box that I'm still working on. The bit is in terrible shape so I don't think it will every look as good as yours. If I don't end up destroying it I'll post pictures sometime. My prime...
