    [OT] Avant Garde Music Anyone?

jarit, I found your examples to be quite listenable. I'm not sure I would classify the music alone as avant garde. Maybe the presentation is. It sounds to me for the most part to be tonally centered and somewhat cinematic in nature, not exactly concert music but something I'd hear in a move...

Here's my old 9448. Not much to look at perhaps, but appreciated as an excellent smoker and survivor.

Show Off Your LHS Pipes Here

I really wish there were as much information on LHS pipes as there is for Kaywoodies. I appreciate your efforts, Dave, in digging this stuff up. I found a Japanese collector who has this same pipe. He says the gold band (I said silver earlier) is 18K gold. Evidentially, the patent for Bakelite...

The old Bakelite LHS showed up this afternoon. I wish I had a light box setup to show off the translucency of the stem and shank assembly. There are only two stampings on the pipe, Bakelite on the top and the LHS logo on the silver ring.

    HELP!! fathers day gift...savenelli pipe??

Orely, "Sharper than a serpents tooth is it to have an ungrateful child" =) Alas, I haven't received a present from either of my boys since they were in grade school. We aren't much on birthdays and Christmas here.

    HELP!! fathers day gift...savenelli pipe??

Just speaking for myself here, but I'd rather get a pipe from my son that he thought I'd like even if it wasn't something I'd get for myself. Every time I'd pick it up I'd think of my son. It would be unique.

A couple more fine LHS pipes. Here's Superfine and a Purex. The Superfine is a particularly well engineered pipe. It's well balanced and has good draw.

Dave, no other stamping at all on the pipe other than a "99" on the bottom of the shank.Twenty bucks?! The version with the gold ring must be quite a bit more expensive. Everything else is the same though. I won an auction last night for a 1930s LHS. Supposedly it is unsmoked. Normally I'd wait...

Here's a magazine ad from 1944. Five bucks in 1944 was equivalent to $67.00 in today's money.

    Bruyere St. Claude Pipes

I have no complaints about mine other than the button is a little small to support a 7" long pipe comfortably. It's a winner on all other counts.
