Great Quote by Mark Twain on Anti-Smoking Movement of the 19th Century

The quote is a tad too long for my sig but I'm copying and pasting it for later use! I think I would liked this Mark Twain chap =)

Stupid Pipe Invention From the Past

I think this is pretty silly, but not outrageously so: Kurt Vonnegut Pipe Cleaner

Show Off Your LHS Pipes Here

My latest LHS is this "Bancroft". I wasn't able to find anything about this line of pipes, but I'm thinking it must have been one of their older budget lines. I like the refined but simple and sleek design. The red dot on top of the stem was also used on LHS Aladdin pipes but this one is much...

    Savinelli Bing's Favorite

Great info, PipeDreamer. I only wish Savinelli had offered one with a straight stem. Here are some from an earlier thread: Merchant Service Bing I actually prefer bent stems like my Savinelli has. It would just be nice to have a choice so I'd have an excuse to buy another one.

    A Pipe To Suit Everyone - Woolworth's

A few thousand factories like those and we could end the unemployment problem :-)

    Little Missile Shaped Pipe

PipeDreamer, the timing is right. The ebay seller was cindydunneisen11. Sure is a nice little pocket pipe.

    Please help indentify these pipes!

Here's someone else who has your Jethro pipe. Interesting. Jethro Pipe Link

    Little Missile Shaped Pipe

This came from eBay. (As do a lot of strange things) It's a little pipe stamped "Jet Pipe". It's got to be from the 50's, wouldn't you say? It resembles a zeppelin pipe like one I already have, but this has the open tobacco chamber instead of the closed combustion chamber the zeppelin has. I...

Show Off Your GBD Pipes (and 2nds)

Found this GBD Sablee poker at the antique store yesterday pretty much in this condition. Six bucks!

Any Magazine Readers? - The Type Printed On Paper That Is

Two magazines I subscribed to for years were National Geographic and Scientific American. After every issue seemed to arrive contaminated and suffused with enviro-political issues I stopped my subscriptions. That wasn't the only reason though. Along with the unwanted preaching came an editorial...

    Savinelli Bing's Favorite

Just recently got my Bing. It sits right next to Clark's Favorite. You will enjoy yours. I hope Savinelli comes out with more pipes in this series. (And pays a bit more attention to what those guys actually smoked =)

Bonehead, that was the first rock album I ever bought. Still have it. Ah, the memories!

Stupid idea of the day: crowdfund a forum upgrade

The only thing that lacking here is a way to preview before posting. If something goes haywire with an image or a link or text formatting it's like race to get it fixed before the the ten minute time limit. I've missed that limit several times as others have....apparently. Wouldn't it be great...

WDC Estate Fraternity Pipe - Phi Kappa Alpha

Here are a couple of WDC ads from a tobacco trade magazine from the early-mid 20s.

Dr. Grabow Viking and Yello-Bole Checker (pic heavy)

Here are my two checkers. I tried to do a slightly dark contrast stain on the back one. Still trying to get than hang of that technique. I do like the bent stem better.

Peterson Christmas 2015 Pipes and Tobacco at Smokingpipes.com

I'm going to attempt to resist...for awhile at least. I haven't had much of a chance to smoke my 2014 Peterson "Pinecone" Christmas pipe.

Dr. Grabow Viking and Yello-Bole Checker (pic heavy)

I'd say dump the salt, give it another cleaning with pipe cleaners and alcohol, let em rest for a day, then try them out. If you notice and ghosting you can always repeat the salt treatment.

    Ebay Ropps

I've got a few estate Ropp pipes that I like. I'd worry just a bit about buying from that seller with the five dissatisfied customers with complaints I see there. Smokingpipes.com has some vintage Ropps you may like. Maybe take a look at those.

Social connotations of cigarettes, cigars, and pipes

I have some worthless generalizations to offer. :-) Cigarette Smokers: As a young non-smoking youth I worked as a conductor on the train that goes around Disneyland. There was no smoking allowed while on the train, so people would file by me holding out their "D" tickets and snuffing out there...
