First of all +1 on the New Yorker magazine. I used to date a girl whose dad subscribed to them. Great writing and cartoons.

I forgot to mention, that from about 1971 to about 1980 I read National Lampoon magazine quite religiously. It had some truly innovative humor that surely would not pass any sort of PC test now. It was rude, crude and sarcastic humor, poking fun at a lot of society's hang ups. And let's not forget the comic pages, which had the Appletons, a sort of Leave it to Beaver family featuring a dad that smoked a pipe! I really do miss politically incorrect humor...
