    stinger vs no stinger

From a collector's standpoint, you want to keep the stinger on the pipe or if it's removable keep it in case you someday decide to sell it. From a practical standpoint it seems to be a personal preference. Most of the time I prefer no filter. A metal stinger is fine unless there are issues with...

What Did Your Fathers and Grandfathers Smoke?

My grandfather only smoked Prince Albert. I still have the last opened can of it had just before he died back in 1994. Surprisingly, it's still quite smokable. I'll take a pinch in one of his old pipes in remembrance this weekend.

How Many Pipes Do You Own?

lifeon2, my collection mirrors yours in makeup except for quantity. I'm at around 300. Last week I added a couple of WDCs. This week it was two Nordings and a Bjarne. I mostly collect American factory made pipes such as Grabows, LHS, Medico, Marxman, etc, but this week went Danish.

    Pipe Rest for Car?

Vacuum cup seemed to be the answer back in the thirties. I even saw one article recommending you drill a hole in your dash to stick the stem of your pipe in! Ok, not so helpful, but I though you might like a little pipe nostalgia.

Found Three Danes at the Antique Store

@fnord I have heard of Nording pipes but like you I'm not familiar with Bjarne. Evidently, Viking pipes are Bjarne seconds. (?) The tenon on that Bjarne is a very small caliber so probably no filter is meant to go with the pipe. There were other pipes from this estate. One was an Oldenkott...

Found Three Danes at the Antique Store

I stopped by my local antique store yesterday and was pleased to see these three pipes in a basket for six bucks each. Two Nordings and a Bjarne "Handmade". These are the first of their kind in my collection, so I'm pretty jazzed to have them. The last Nording is a bit faded and should...

    Tobacco Questions

The advantage when you buy dry tobacco in bulk is that you get more of it. The last time I bought tobacco at a B/M the guy measuring out the dry tobacco was complaining about that. It's not that big of chore to rehyadrate tobacco if you have to.

    MM Ozark hardwood

I've got a few of these that came in a lot of estate pipes as NOS. They have picture of Andrew Jackson on the bottom, so I assumed they were hickory. I can't tell one wood from another, so they could be made of birch.

    Bamboo Adventures... Pic Heavy

I've been wanting a similar pipe to your Jack Su pipe but have had reservations about the manufacturing standards and materials. I still might be tempted someday. In the mean time, I picked up this Tsuge. I've got another Tsuge pipe that I like and felt confident I'd like this one.

Cherrywood Pipes Anyone? The Wood, Not the Shape...

They are nice pipes. I've got an old Ropp cherrywood that I use for aromatics. Instead of a silver repair band, somebody used a 9mm shell casing. Makes it sort of unique =)

    What triggered the FDA changes?

I tend to be even more cynical than most. One of the tenants of The Life of a Bureaucracy is, "If the budget can be expanded to serve my department or agency, then it will be expanded." To justify that premise, the bureaucracy constantly has to be expanding its purview. and growing its...

Any Non - P.C. Pipe Forums???

I look for forums that consistently have posts about pipes and pipe tobaccos. So far, and partly due to strong moderating here, this is the place to be.

    Do You Save Coins?

I would do it except I haven't had any hard cash in my hands for as long as I can remember. Everything seems to be cashless these days.

    Show Off Your Tsuge's Here!

The bent billiard I've had for awhile and enjoy it very much. The kiseru inspired one (Ichirin) is new. It's small but still fun for a fifteen minute smoke....if you puff very slowly =)

    P&C shipping frustration

cigrmaster wrote: I'll have to disagree with you there. I just bought a Tsuge pipe from P&C for $130.00 that is listed at Smokingpipes.com for $170. And I got a 20% discount on top of that. The Savinelli 320 I got from P&C was also much cheaper than anywhere else. The 100g tin of Orlik Golden...
