Piping On A Budget: Estate Pipes.

That's the book that got me started on estates. He tells you how to start without using expensive tools, too. Can't recommend highly enough.

I may have a problem with PAD...

That is a great collection you have there. Pipes with odd gimmicks for delivering cool dry smokes or novel cleaning methods interest me. Dr Shotten was actually John C. Shotten of Cleveland, Ohio and it appears his patent for that pipe was granted in 1934. The ads like the one you saw seem to...

Pending Move To Colorado. What Am In For?

Make sure you have a 4X4 vehicle before next winter if you don't already. Be prepared for the hassle of having to get you beer wine and liquor at state run stores. Maybe not a big deal for most....was for me =) We were in Denver for a few days for our son's graduation last December. We had...

A Truly Insane Gift?!?! Who Sent This To Me?

Many years ago a pipe smoking British explorer discovered the tomb of the ancient malevolent deity, Ku'elay. Shortly after that the explorer was never heard from again but his pipe was last seen in an old dusty curio shop, though it is now missing. It is thought the enraged spirit has quietly...

Show Off Your LHS Pipes Here

Wow! I'll take one of each display. Now I know all the LHS shapes I don't have. I never would have guessed "Doc Frog" would have been a mascot for Purex pipes. Google search turns up nothing for me, so I doubt it was ever used in print ads. These images are great. I'm going to be drooling over...

    Blood Red Moon

It is certainly a mouthful of robust cherry candy flavor, a little over the top for me. I like a little tobacco flavor to come through as well, so I my preference is for the lighter aromatics. I was drinking coffee and smoking a bowl of Blood Red Moon the other day and the sweetness from the...

Show Off Your Dr. Grabow Pipes Here!

That's a very dapper looking Grabow. Besides the grain and paneling, I like the thin band.

    Who Made "Natural" Pipes?

    Thank you for the clarification.

    Disgusting Seller

This is exactly why I don't spend over $20.00 on ebay. I wouldn't have had a clue about any of this. I've learned something.

    Last Photo!

You weren't here when I misspelled Comoy's as Camoy's in a thread title. I was beaten mercilessly....and loved every minute of it. In fact I've been coming back for more for the past three years =)

    Will Power Fails to PAD

I appreciate the encouragement. I took the pipe out of its box and smoked some PS Turkish in it. Not bad. I'm starting to build my next tobacco order so I'll try the SG rope. Never had that one. Pipestud's review said it knocked his boots off. Am I ready for that? =)

have A old swiss pipe wondering the age

If you paid $85 for it and you like it then you did well. If you try to get some satisfaction by selling it for more than you paid, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. Maybe not. Would you have paid $200.00? For that amount you can buy a pretty good new pipe. I've got two Swiss...

I think you're going to like that one a lot!

    The Wellington

It looks fantastic! I'm sure you will enjoy that one for many years to come.

    Will Power Fails to PAD

You know, it's not until you get this 4", 1 oz pipe in your hands that you realize exactly how small it is. It's good for a 15 minute sample smoke. It's nicely made and a bit of a conversation piece but probably not worth $75.00 unless you have use for this sort of thing. It will travel well.

A Cautionary Tale - Broken Pipe, Ill-Used Widow, Piper of Ill Repute

Y'all make sure you have your wills and advanced directives all notarized and signed too. My parents departed without any of that stuff and it created strife and angst for several years after their passing. In fact, it's been over 20 years since that time and the state of California is still...

The Red Baron - 2008 Film - Sometimes A Gem

War films are frequently heavy with romanticism. It just would not have been as dramatic if Richthoven had been killed by a stray bullet fired from the ground. I found enough truth in the movie to enjoy it. There is a Nova documentary called, Who Killed The Red Baron? They also did one...

    Reasons To Dislike Apple/Macintosh Computers

Macs are great, especially if you just want to do basic computer stuff and appreciate the style. It's like an exclusive grocery store that only carries one brand of cereal and it's expensive. You just go to the cereal isle, pick up your box and you are done. PCs are more like a supermarket. You...

    Gamers - Smoking while Gaming

I've seen enough nicotine deposits on motherboard and heat sink surfaces to dissuade from smoking around my computer. I suppose if the room ventilation is good and you have removable intake filters on your computer case it wouldn't be too much of a concern. I have a gaming friend who vapes...
