    Is it asking too much

I have a semi-hard rule about this. A pipe should pass a cleaner to remove moisture during a smoke; gurgling can happen especially if you smoke outside most of the time like I do, even if one breath smokes. The qualification is there in my personal rule because I do have one full-bent that...

Calling All Lurkers: Speak Right Up

I know what you mean, Dan; yet that doesn't stop most of us! It took me a while to get comfortable with the folks here, especially what with the pirates and the cob squad and those who are aligned both ways :puffy: I lurked here for about four years before I registered.

Calling The Bard: My Barling PAD Acquisition.

A tank of gas for 35$ -- holy petrol prices, sometimes I forget that I live in the one of the most expensive places in North America ... 154.9 / L yesterday!

    Do You Avoid Heavier Pipes?

With ebonite this is very true, but with acrylic it is not a big deal. I have very sensitive teeth and I find any stem material very hard to clench. So the softie bits have been in use on my pipe stems for the last few years; they have allowed me to smoke my pipes with pleasure over the last...

Estate Pipes - How to Buy Correctly

I don't recommend ebay, there's just too much crap there and until you really know your stuff, it is easy to end up disappointed. I highly recommend any of the site sponsors who deal in estates. I have had fantastic service from SP.com, Briar Blues and Mkelaw-Pipes over the years. Yes on ebay...

Cornell & Diehl: Bluegrass...The Sleeper has Awakened

Oh yes, Bluegrass rocks! 4 star VA-Bur-per for me. Great call smokingdragon. Love the "Dune" allusion, too.

First Impression: Mac Baren HH Burley Flake

Quality burley flake indeed! Jay -- you know it :puffy:

Calling The Bard: My Barling PAD Acquisition.

Jay, Nice thick walls on that pot. Some of the older style of pots had rather thin briar chambers. So be happy about that. Even if it is not from a more cherished era, still it may smoke like a badass. And for the cost ... no loss to you either way.

The First Officially Stamped….Ken Barnes Pipe (Picture Heavy)

Haha Harris, thanks for ordering a pipe for me with all those specifications, very thoughtful of you indeed! BTW, Ken -- let me know, not Harris, when this beautiful dublin is ready to despatch :puffpipe:

    A Beautiful Floral Arrangement

Beautiful. I find it fascinating that their colours alter according to their soil conditions; sometimes we can see a part pink and part blue bush due to the soil in which the roots take. I would think soil conditions can impact tobacco plants in various ways, too ? BTW, Cosmic, I hope you are...

    Peter Heinrich's Curly Block

I agree with seldom and crashthegrey. I do think your public name calling is way over the top, especially since they provided you with a terse, helpful reply. If it is moldy it will be obvious, send it back. Otherwise, light it up.

Most Comical Thread or Post @ PM Forums

The recent Smokingcricket thread, while very entertaining indeed, provoking a few smiles and chuckles, yet I think there have been even more comical threads and posts. Which stand out as the most comical for you? The one I nominate as the most funny thread is the one, on how to open a tobacco...

    World Cup ... Lethargy?

Indeed, examples could be multiplied... This is for sure true historically and, interestingly, a current trend in the NHL. All one has to mention is Bobby Orr for the historic side of the case. Tough but not a big guy at all, yet fast on the ice and clever and an extremely elusive puckhandler...

Last Smoke, Before the Rock and String

Good Health, Cosmic. You'll be back with your tobacco plants in no time. Joy and comfort! BTW, this kind of gives new meaning to the question about 'whose pulling the strings?' doesn't it :)

    Do You Avoid Heavier Pipes?

As a clencher, I prefer my pipes to be 60g or less. 60g equals 2.1 oz and so I work in your ballpark. Yet I don't have a hard rule about this. How the pipe sits and balances is key; I have a 75g (2.6 oz) pipe that suits my clenching style just so. But I do not go for pipes that weigh more; so...

    Tell Me About Nordings

haha Jay  Bassbug, I bet you want to bring Jay along fly fishing so he can walk through the waters before you cast :)

    What's In Your Tobacco Rotation?

Not sure if you'd be interested in VAper, VA-Bur blends or burleys, but that's what I like, and you asked, so here's some suggestions, keeping your perimeters in mind about bulk and availability. 1. HH Burley Flake -- 1 lb boxes are available! (Mac Baren HH products are all available in 1 lb...

    Jim's New Three Nuns Reviews.

Thanks heaps Russ & Jim! After reading your impressions Jim, I want to try both. By the initial description, the green appealed to me the most. There's something about what Mac Baren does with dark fired burleys that has always suited my palate. MB seems to know how integrate dark fired so well...
