Mailbox Surprise (hint: They're Pipes) PICS

I received a surprise in the mailbox earlier this week. I always keep track of packages in route and wasn't expecting anything. Checked the return address and knew exactly who it was. It's ironic that a man named Scrooge is the most generous person you could ever meet. I opened the box and there...

Are Savinelli pipes really that great?

All my Savinelli's are great smokers. Sure they have budget pipes but they also have some very pricey models as well. Regardless of price/model, the two year curing process for the briar is the same. They make most models both filtered and unfiltered.

    A Thing Of Beauty.

That's gorgeous. Btw, Ed makes a pretty mean looking pipe as well. Checkout some of his customs. I love his unique banding work.

    Michael Parks' Briar Calabash

$29? Man, I was charged $59. Just when I think Parks can't top himself, he hits another home run. That is stunning. I need a thesaurus. Stunning is an understatement.

    That $#!t's Stupid

    A few new handmades

Nice work on all of them. My favorite is that beastly plateau top poker. @ coyote It takes real courage to admit the devils anus is stunning.

    Stem polishing; oxidation

I've only used bleach on few very bad stems. It does bring them back to black again, but it will be rough and still need wet sanded. Bleach will eat any metal stinger, banding, and logos, so cover them carefully with Vaseline to protect. I prefer to soak with Oxy Clean then wet sand up to...

Post FDA reg House Blends Talk with B&M Owner

I had a long discussion with the owner of my local B&M today. He said they can still sell bulk loose tobacco but they will no longer be able to blend their own in house. For the regular customers, he might sell several different bags that afterwards you blend yourself. Dark days but there is...

    Salt & alcohol treatment...

I've always used kosher salt and denatured alcohol. It's works pretty good. You may have to administer more than one treatment up to several depending on how much the pipe was maintained. I plug the shank, fill the chamber halfway with salt, then use a dropper and wet down the salt but not...

    DIY Pipe Restoration Questions

I would strongly recommend buying a few cheap beaters to practice on before trying to restore your grandfathers pipe(s). You can quickly ruin a pipe during the process and it cannot be undone. Good luck. It can be a lot of fun once you get into it.

    Linkmans Special Punch Board Display.

That's amazing Ed. Very cool. I've never seen one. The last time I went to my local B&M (been a while), They had Chesterfield's and Dunhill cigs. I'll check and see if you'd like a pack.
