    Replacing Kaywoodie Stem Inlay

Yes a transplant is pretty straight forward. Just find a cheap beater with the same style insert. There are at least two different types. A round insert. (White with black clover center) and a plain white clover insert.

    A Few Repair Before/After Pics 10/25

Thanks everybody. They don’t always turn out this good, but it’s fun when they do. My work here is done. Got Piffyr to come in from the wild. Thanks Anthony. Can wait for your next refurb post. Jesse, I’m duct taping some typewriter keys together right now. I’ll see if I can make that happen. :-)

High Gloss Shine vs. Satin/Matte Finish

Dang Al, you dug deep to find that post. She was trashed when I got it, but I had to have it. You’re right. 614 is a rare shape. This is the only one I’ve seen. I’d love to add a Prehistoric blasted 614 to the fold. This mornings project was giving the satin finish to my 9438’s.

    Favorite Pipe for Deep Thought?

I like craggy rusticated pipes when reading. Reading the grain of the pipe with your hand like Braille. This Marvic “fat bastard” is my favorite reading pipe. I specifically asked Gary for chunky rustication for a reader.

High Gloss Shine vs. Satin/Matte Finish

Through trial and error I’ve found the perfect satin finish for me. Ever since I found the GL Pease GBD collection (link posted below) I’ve wanted that look for my British briars. I’m a big fan of the high gloss super shine on certain pipes, but that satin finish just looks so right on old Brit...

    A Few Repair Before/After Pics 10/25

Thanks guys. I had fun working on them. Yes, I used a heat gun to soften up the stems for shaping. Thanks Wyfbane. I’d like to get Anthony (Piffyr) to make some how-to vids.

    1903 Peterson Dublin (Factory Replica/Cased)

Very cool. I like the stem replacement btw. I wouldn’t say fake history. More like a tribute to the good ole days. We do have a Pete specific board. Some neat stuff too. http://pipesmagazine.com/forums/topic/show-off-your-petersons-here

    A Few Repair Before/After Pics 10/25

I was able heat and reform the bit on this 81. With hot vulcanite and a carefully crafted paper clip I lifted the dent from the inside. Finished with a needle file and wetsanding. Same treatment for this Eldorado 37L. No before shots of this Starfire zulu. It was in pretty good condition...

Lovat Off The Bench - Pic Heavy

I like the stem accent, that’s why I kept asking. Just wondered if it was brass or plastic rod.

    Saving a Plain Jane

Nice work. Good good grain on that old Medi. What color did you use for stain?
