THIS is why I don't smoke near my computer (pics)

Having worked in IT for some 11 - 12 years now it pains me to say that I've seen that bad in non smoking work environments. Although, that looks like newer equipment than the stuff I've seen that gets that bad.

Fun Fact About Andrew Jackson's Wife

I just started reading a book called "Stupid American History: Tales of Stupidity, Strangeness, and Mythconceptions" and on the first page it says "Andrew Jackson's wife, Rachael, was the only first lady who smoked a pipe."

Teeth Clencher or Hand Holder/Straight or Bent

I guess I'm a girly man then (and damn proud of it ;) ) because I'm a fan of bents. Just feel better in the hand (I don't clench at all). Although I'm really coming around to straight pipes. Also something I'm coming around to is rustication (hated that when I first started buying pipes but now...

    OMG this guy has issues

Ben was an amazing guy all around. Proud to be from the country he helped found. As for how I feel about being from the same country as some (or most) of our current politicians...that's a whole other thread I think :D

my grandson said he was starting to feel a little uneasy

The F word is used as a comma in speech with several of the soldiers I work with. :) Best of luck to him on getting home.

New Pipe Smoker in the Family

My cousin just got her husband his first pipe. I like to think I influenced that decision since I always carry extra pipes and always make him smoke one when we're out ;)

    And the #1 Cob is?

As a new owner of a country gent and...um...something in an egg shape (sorry, the style/name eludes me for the moment) I would say you probably can't go wrong. They both smoke very well. I would get a different stem if you could as I don't particularly like the plastic, but that's my only...

    OMG this guy has issues

I prefer this: In those days spirits were brave, the stakes were high, men were real men, women were real women, and small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri were real small furry creatures from Alpha Centauri. :D

    OMG this guy has issues

I like the idea...just not the execution. You should really have a point when doing this kind of thing (ie, yes, spout your "humor" but give us a damn review while you're doing it). And make sure you actually know what you're doing/saying before you do a satirical, historical rant. Anybody read...

Merry Christmas to Me! PipesandCigars.com Rocks!!!

Nice haul. I got the calendar as well...I'm very excited for next November/December :D

    Whew Lawd! Mail Came!

Will do. I've done the Bayou and did a prelunch bowl of Key Largo a little while ago. Neither are a new favorites but both were very good. Gonna do the Dunhill Flake pretty soon and expect that to be my favorite so far. I'm a fan of Virginians though.

    Estates: Breaking In?

I don't think I knew that was a key thing with a new pipe :) Thanks!

    Whew Lawd! Mail Came!

@Cyndi Believe me, it makes me happy too :) About 3 of those I've smoked before, Black House being one of them. (Escudo and Jackknife being the others).

Somebody's been smokin' too much weed

Good for you Kevin! When I went looking for my first pipe I went to 2 stores that both had the word "Pipes" in the title. Neither of them had a piece of cob, briar, or meer in them at all. Hate to see others waste their time like that too.

It's Not A Gandalf! (mini rant)

Good for you. I'm all about making people aware and being made aware on any and all subjects. It's a shame that it takes a massive pop culture icon like LotR just to get pipes to the mainstream and when one does that's what most people will inevitably associate it with. Although I will say that...

    Whew Lawd! Mail Came!

Thanks. I'm sure I'll never stop buying new blends. But if I can get about 10 tins each of my favorites then I think I'll be good :D Started off with the hard to find stuff like SG and Penzance but I think I'm good on those (didn't get 10 tins of anything but got 4 or 5 of several SG and 2 8 oz...

    Estates: Breaking In?

The title pretty much says it all. I should be getting some estate pipes in. Is it necessary to break those in with partial bowls? I've heard several reasons for doing this 1 being bottom cake build up which would make me think you would need to break it in. But the other reason I've read is so...

    Misleading ebay auctions

@jameral Ah...I see :) I bought my dad some pipes (for display only sadly enough) for XMas. He has a pipe stand/humidor in his study but no pipes! We already exchanged gifts and he opened them and said "You know what these are made of right? Briar". But he actually thought it was briar as in...

    Whew Lawd! Mail Came!

Wow, that's a pretty darn good estimation on my part then :) My goal is to try a bunch of stuff right now. Every pay check I'm buying 10 - 20 tins to send home and store. My goal is to never have to buy more tobacco after September :)

    Whew Lawd! Mail Came!

I only do 1...maybe 2 bowls a day. So I'm thinking that will be good until September. maybe not though. I would just *hate* to have to order more ;)
