    A Question About Nicotine Content

This is interesting. I thought it must have been a fluke when I felt a little nic hit from the Bulls Eye, because by most reports it's pretty mild I think. What's interesting is that I rarely get a nic hit from smoking the pipe. I used to (chain) smoke some very full cigarette Have you tried...

    Albert Einstein's Tobacco?

Interesting, was just looking at a sealed tin of the Revelation Einstein smoked (Philip Morris) yesterday on eBay.

Your recommendations for a Black Walnut flavor tobacco

In addition to the Peterson De Luxe Mixture mentioned above, McClelland Easy Street is an aromatic with a top note of English walnut. That said, you've mentioned you aren't so much looking for an aromatic. You could get one of those aromatics and thrown some latakia or perique or whatever in...

    A Question About Nicotine Content

Oh, and the Pipes and Cigars "strength" rating is a bit confusing, because I'm fairly sure it doesn't refer to nicotine level all the time. Sometimes they use it to refer to flavor, sometimes to nic content. For example, Irish Flake is rated "mild-medium," and everyone agrees that it is quite...

    A Question About Nicotine Content

The nicotine ratings you're referencing aren't empirically measured like is sometimes down on dip labels. It's just based on whatever the site owner or user-generated info people are going off of. I think -nicotine effect on various people is quite variable -some descriptions are wildly...

Your recommendations for a Black Walnut flavor tobacco

Hmmm. I recently posted about the ingredients of G&H Twists, and it seems that according to G&H, they do not contain Burley, but rather the African Virginia leaf. They do, however, have a very different taste from standard Virginia leaf--very strong, and almost cigar like. For the record, all...

McClelland - No. 2045 Oriental Mixture

Thanks to everyone who suggested a blend; I will look into these! Sorry, I'm a bit of a green recruit at all this--are you referencing Ashbury? Cairo? Or just pretty much any oriental he makes? If this was in reference to my original post, then yes, the 2045 is a bulk blend.

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Happy Brown Bogie Twist

Thanks for the input! I may get some brown twist sliced next time then. I think they are probably better at slicing it than I am. Amen to that. Not that I don't think Strang is good (I've never had it), but I think G&H deserves a lot more love than it gets.

McClelland - No. 2045 Oriental Mixture

Before I had smoked any oriental blends, I had a dream that I came across some, and the smoke was delightful. (Insert forced “pipe dream” pun here.) This inspired me to order an oriental blend. I settled on Match Balkan Sobranie and McClelland 2045 Oriental Mixture. I really wanted a blend where...

Favorite Tin / Pouch Design / Art?

Beautiful tins everyone! Thank you for posting! SG does have some really nice tins as well. I love the 1792 Flake tin--it has a classic look about it.

Cigars made with non-cigar leaf, e.g., Virginia leaf?

I want to ask the folks at G&H to make me a straight Rum Twist with a decent draw on it. Of course, I'd probably pass out after smoking a quarter of it, but it'd be worth it. And yes, the Spectre's where what I'd run across with latakia. I'll have to try some sometime. I don't often smoke...

    Crowley's Rum Soaked Perique 93

Fun! I'll be interested to hear your experience. I may give this a go sometime.

Cigars made with non-cigar leaf, e.g., Virginia leaf?

My Googling skills must be crap--I couldn't find cigars with any of those, except I did run across some with latakia.

Cigars made with non-cigar leaf, e.g., Virginia leaf?

This has bugged me for a bit: why aren't any cigars made from different sorts of leaves? Is there something about the leaf (size, structural integrity) that prevents other leaves from being used to make cigars? Or is it merely an established tradition, and branching out would weaken the...

Favorite Tin / Pouch Design / Art?

I do like the Tsuge tins. Never tried them, but cool designs for sure, and they certainly stand out in a crowd.

Favorite Tin / Pouch Design / Art?

This is a bit off topic, I suppose, so maybe it should go in the more general discussion forum, but it also seems to fit here. What is your favorite tin art and design? I really like the tins with a classic look, light Nightcap. One thing I like about the tobacco industry is that it gravitates...

Anyone know who makes OVTC's Old Virginia Flake???

I have not tried OVTC's Old Virginia Flake, but I browsed through the bulk McClelland flake offerings (there aren't that many) on P&C and McClelland No. 2010 Classic Virginia seems to close to what you describe.

    Can't keep Penzance a secret

That's actually what surprised me. I haven't smoked it yet, but my understanding is that Penzance is essentially just an oriental / Balkan blend? I know it's supposed to be a really good one, but I'm surprised that orientals and a bit of latakia are so offensive. Surely this would be true of...

Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. Happy Brown Bogie Twist

Thank you for inspiring me to research it: I had always wondered where they term "bogie" came from, but had been too lazy to find out. After I read that, I thought, "That doesn't sound quite right!" and finally put in a little searching to find the origin.
