My ex wife's Grandmother worked for Mr Einstein at one time. I wish she were still around so I could ask her about the tobacco he smoked.

Einstein's 50th birthday in 1929 brought congratulatory gifts from Presidents , Kings, but he was most impressed by the gift of a small pouch of pipe tobacco from an unemployed man. In a note the man made a witty allusion to both relativity nad field theory: 'There is relatively little tobacco, but it is from a good field.'
Love that quote. I didn't know which tobacco he smoked, though have read a couple of books on the Professor. He was a great man, in my view, as I rate greatness, up with Teddy Roosevelt, Jefferson and Washington.

Revelation was indeed the great Professor's favorite. I had a prof in college who would smoke Revelation in his corn cob during lectures. After the first week of class about half a dozen of us showed up to class with our pipes loaded with Revelation. We figured that if it was the choice of tenured PHD's it might help us. BTW, I did get an "A" in Ancient History. Maybe there is something to the name of that hallowed tobacco.

Its hard to believe today that there was a time that you could smoke in class and nobody thought twice about it or complained. How much freedom we have ceded to the "pleasure police" over the past 30 years.

I went thread digging and found this thread quite interesting - and because I have a desire to search for things that are uncommon, I feel that I will be picking up some of that C&D Epiphany in the future and continue to search for the actual Revelation.

hobie1dog: sounds good, will definitely do the same, I saw on Tobacco Reviews that someone found two tins at their local B&M very recently. I'm debating calling up my B&Ms to see if they have any tins left.

One of my profs back in school, Paul Arthur Schilpp, was editor of the Library of Living Philosophers and was personal friend of Einstein's. We're talking 40 years ago, so my memory is a little vague, but I think this came up, once, in a discussion. Schilpp, apparently, was visiting Einstein and got a wry chuckle when Einstein filled his pipe from a can of Revelation. I think I also knew, somewhere along the line, that Einstein also liked Walnut. I have no info per Country Doctor. Like a lot of us, he probably enjoyed a variety of different mixtures in addition to one or two favorites. But Einstein was also possessed of something of a wry sense of humor himself hence it wouldn't surprise me that he might have like a mixture called Revelation which I used to smoke, too. Although I haven't seen it for a while, it probably helps that it was also a pretty decent smoke. Back in the day. So to say.

hobie1dog, great post. Excellent info on Einstein. I now know what he smoked. Read some good biographical material on him years ago before I took up the pipe, so I was not paying attention to his pipe smoking habit and tobacco he used.

I got 3 tins from Chicago show a few days ago. Just cracked a tin and it's smoldering in my pipe now.

I had a physics prof in college who was a pal of the great thinker, Mr. E. The prof's lab shelves were lined with empty tins of Revelation.
I was the dummy of the group. I sat in class wondering what those two great men might have talked about over their pipes. Never did ask, though. Now, I wish I had.
And, uh, that's when I began smoking a pipe. It didn't make me any smarter, drat the luck!

And you can't buy Middleton's Walnut anymore, but ah-ha, you can by the matching PC Midtown Series Chestnut, in pouch or by the tub, for an excellent price. So do what Albert sometimes did, and enjoy the closest thing to Walnut you can get, when you aren't enjoying C&D's Epiphany. And if you do a few calculations in higher mathematics on the structure of the universe, who knows what might happen?

With my BS in Physics, I've been really liking C&D Epiphany for about 3 months. While so fat it's not inspired any genius, my hair is getting a bit messy and I'm getting more mileage on my sweaters.

I have 4 oz. of the P&C MATCH version and its pretty good.

At first it was a little rough, so I jarred it up and let it sit for a few of months, its actually quite good now.

I really like C&D's Epiphany. I never smoked Revelation, but if this is close, I'm good to go.
I, too, have noticed, gmjabsky, that my hair is all over the place now and I have this penchant to sit and ponder the world all day. Funny, that!

+1 Epiphany. I also have no idea what Revelation tasted like, but Epiphany is great.
You can get an idea of what it's like if you mix Frog Morton and Carter Hall.
