    Real Asbestos pipe

This is correct. Asbestos is only hazardous when it is friable. I would have no qualms about smoking one of these pipes.

    Cutty Madness. Match 6.

I have to go with number 2. I'm really liking the bamboo on these pipes.
  3. Briar Tuck

    Cutty Madness. Match 5.

Another really tough call. I love the simple grace and refinement of number two, but I also love the uniqueness of number one. The bamboo again sways my decision and I vote for number one.

What Are You Drinking? February 2023

I made a Japanese dish for dinner tonight so some plum wine seemed like a good pairing.

    What's For Dinner?

Miso butter pasta with tuna and cabbage. It sounds a little weird but it's a great recipe, cheap, and easy to make. The tuna is albacore caught here off of the Oregon coast by a friend of mine. Good stuff.

    Draw the Flame Down?

It depends a lot on the pipe and the dryness of the tobacco in my experience, but often the heat alone will ignite it without the flame directly contacting the tobacco.

What Are You Drinking? February 2023

My wife's boss gave her some Meyer lemons from the tree in her yard. There is a old saying, "When wife gives you lemons, make lemonade". That's exactly what I did, and I added some bourbon as well.

Thanks. There were quite a few interesting, old, and unusual pipes in these recent auction lots that I won. It's been fun researching them and smoking them.

To Jar or Not to Jar

I jar all of the bagged stuff right away. I'm sure it will keep a while unopened, but there's really no point in delaying getting it in jars.

    Black Cavendish

I doubt I could go through two pounds a year at my current rate.
