    Pipe Breaking-in

Dunhill and Northern Briars have attained a level of perfection that makes me almost feel sorry for the rest of the pipe making world. The poor creatures don't stand a chance of coming even close.

Some of the Roughest Cut Tobacco

I find that St Bruno ready rubbed defies the term - ready rubbed. I just take the amount I need and rub it between the palms of my hands. Does the trick.

    Pipe Breaking-in

The culprits have been Ardor, Tommaso Spanu, Peterson, Invicta Briars, Comoys. I've kept the Ardor because it was rather pricey, didn't realise at the time that the briar used is only aged for 3 years, that's a bit green for my liking, so I'll try it again a few years down the line.

    Pipe Breaking-in

My experience with pipes is that if they're crap to begin with, they will always be crap. I've never found any miracle cure other than the trash can.

    Falcon Pipes...I Don't Get It

Yeah well, maybe I am a snob, but I have never bought a Falcon because of the image. Which then makes me wonder why I ever bought a cob ? So not just a snob, but an irrational snob. There is not a scrap of hope left for me !

Is a Zippo Pipe Insert Really Better?

Can't say that I'm a Zippo fan, but I do have one kicking around somewhere. Or maybe I've lost it - with any luck ! I tried a pipe insert and found it nowhere near as good as the standard insert.

    New Pipe Shopping

I have some 26 of those Barber pipes and the fit seems perfect, only drawback being on the bent pipes the stem hole does not align with the draught hole, so will not pass a pipe cleaner, all the same they smoke perfectly well. Just means they need taking apart to clean. They are Dunhill after...
