Who Taught You to Smoke a Pipe?

    Why do We Smoke Pipes?

I smoke a pipe simply for the fact that I enjoy the whole process. I usually choose a tobacco, then a pipe. I examine my tobacco, and begin to prepare it, to see if I need to let it dry a little, or if it's ready to go. I prepare it on a leather mat, or a round paper plate, carefully in a...

What Kind of Pipes do you Like and Why?

I have quite a few Basket pipes and Cobs that I acquired over the years with the Drug Store pipes I started with. Now I am drawn to the slightly Bent Dublins and the Bulldogs. I have been buying Peterson and Savinelli, (and various pipes that strike my fancy), for the last few years, (maybe 2...

This Tobacco is Crap! No it Isn't! New G.L. Pease Article

I am in kinda in the same boat as you are as I only have 2 taste buds when it comes to tobacco. 1, is I like it, and 2, is I don't care much for it. That don't mean I hate or dislike it, it just means I won't be smoking it unless I am out of other options. I'm not fond of intense aero-matics...

    Retrohale And Aroma

I don't know if this idea will help anyone "learn" to retro hale, but as I think about it, If I concentrate on what I'm doing while retro haling, I find I'm doing something like this. First I make sure I have my lungs about half full of room air before I start the retrohale. Then I draw a...

    Down at the Heel!

I guess I'm the worlds worst pipe smoker. I maybe smoke a bowl down to any resemblance of complete ash maybe once or twice a year! I usually relight at least 4 or 5 times a bowl, and sometimes I let my tobaccy dry out a little before I pack my bowl, and sometimes I don't. Regardless of how I...

    Local Tobacco Shop

I feel a pretty lucky to have a couple pipe and cigar shops about 20 minutes from my house. I buy local as much as possible, and yeah, it may cost a few bucks more, but they only cost a few dollars, (No more than $5 a tin) more. One of the shops has been around for as long as I can remember...

    Seasonal Pipe Switch

I guess I pretty much don't have a seasonal routine, as I have such a wide variety all through the year. The only difference I really notice is I seem to enjoy the "Seasonal" tobacco blends around Christmas, but I always attributed that to the Holiday and cold weather.

Rationalizing Spending A Lot On A Pipe?

@geopiper nice pipe! All of the pipes I have, cost me under $100, except 2 and those were around $150. I could afford to spend more, I guess, if I HAD to. I'm just glad my taste runs a little more on the inexpensive side as I have a habit of buying a lot of 'baccy My wife just tells me often...
