  1. Briar Tuck

    CDs

I had in mind other likely but less catastrophic scenarios. 🙂

    CDs

I got rid of a dozen or so vinyl records many years ago and I'd love to have them back now, some are now worth an incredible amount of money. Fortunately I did keep another dozen or so records. I never imagined vinyl making a comeback or the value being so high.

I agree that streaming quality is great with high enough bandwidth and you aren't likely to notice any difference in quality, but you might not always have high bandwidth or even internet access at all.

    CDs

A friend of mine found a bunch of brand new blank cassette tapes in storage a while back and he was able to sell them for a ridiculous amount of money on eBay.

    CDs

I have lots of CDs and DVDs and I play them regularly. Streaming is great for certain things, but if it's something I want to watch, listen to, or read again down the road, I still go for the hard copy.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2023?***

I find the Lane Black Raspberry generally pretty tough to keep lit.

    Favorite Virginia Tobaccos?

I've really enjoyed all of the Amphora blends I've tried. Enough so that I just ordered another of their sampler packages.

    Savinelli Pipe Overheats

This is a great point. I was actually dealing with some wind today while smoking, and it can get things hot very quickly.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2023?***

A mix of Amphora and SV Black Cavendish blends in a Claridge (Comoy's second).

    That is an awesome pipe.

    Hear Any Similarities?

Interesting find. Playing in cover bands for years I run into this pretty often. We've actually had to cut songs from our setlist because they sound too similar to each other, or sometimes we do a medley such cases and run directly from one song to the other. We are currently considering doing...

You are definitely smoking it too hot if you can't hold it. Smoke slower. Also, when it gets hot like that, best to simply take a break and let it cool off a bit. Smoking really hot like that can lead to a burn out.

I was intrigued as well so I did some searching and found this: Longbottom Leaf Sign - Etsy - https://www.etsy.com/listing/1210872306/longbottom-leaf-sign

I've gotten pretty good at it. It works best with aros that produce a nice, thick smoke. I can put a smaller ring through a larger one, but my wife says she won't be impressed until I can blow a smoke ship and sail it through a smoke ring the way Gandalf did in Fellowship of the Ring.

Thanks. It's the pipe I was really focused on when bidding on the auction lot, although there were many other good ones in that lot too. I'm very happy with it!

What Are You Drinking? February 2023

My brown ale that I kegged last week is now carbonated so we drank a few pints of that tonight. Good stuff. It never lasts too long since my wife loves it, so I'll need to brew again soon.

***What Are You Smoking, February 2023?***

Amphora Special Reserve Black Cavendish in my recently acquired Pioneer Block Meerschaum army mount. This meer needed a little work to make it smokable. There was a small hairline crack in the shank and the tenon mount was a little loose. Both issues easily fixed with a little CA, and it smokes...
