How Are Your Cellared Aromatics Holding Up?

I sure hope they hold up well, because I'm pretty much forced to cellar now with the impending ban on all flavored tobacco here in Oregon.

    Car Question

All I can add is that getting parts is apparently a major issue across the industry, and with Ford in particular. Our local Ford dealer recently permanently closed their parts department because of their inability to get parts. It doesn't bode well for us Ford owners.

    How dry is "too dry"?

Yep, I bought the Whitluck's kit just for the waxed canvas pipe roll. It was worth it. The pipe that comes with it is made of ebony wood and is really heavy, but it's smokable. I also bought another little pipe case/tobacco pouch from Amazon made by FireDog. That one is pretty nice as well. The...

    How dry is "too dry"?

A lot depends on the relative humidity where you live. Here on the Oregon coast it is so humid that it's really not possible to get your tobacco too dry regardless of how long you leave it out. I've found that extended drying (air exposure) will lead to a loss of flavor, especially with...

    Pan Searing Fish

It can be a fine line between frying and searing, really depending on how much fat/oil you have in the pan. I cook a lot of salmon, and aside from smoking it I cook most of it in cast iron. One of my favorite recipes is salmon with a pecan and brown sugar glaze, which is pan seared and then...

    Pan Searing Fish

Exactly. Butter has a low smoke point, so it a good idea to include some oil as well. I forgot to mention that.

The Contrarian Nature of Internet Posts

I've always said that the internet is no place for someone with a thin skin. People are always inclined to say things online that they would never say in person, so some slings and arrows are bound to fly in any online discussion. That said, despite the sheer numbers of codgers here this is one...

    Pan Searing Fish

I pan fry and sear fish in cast iron exclusively. Lots of butter is indeed the key ingredient for success. As a fisherman, I cook and eat a lot of fish.

Taxes/IRS Make Me Want to Blow my Brains Out!

Well, I always start with the standard version and Turbo Tax insists that I need to upgrade due to my tax situation, which is really only divided and interest income, and sometimes a stock sale, nothing else. Maybe I could indeed accomplish it with the standard version, but Turbo Tax says...

Taxes/IRS Make Me Want to Blow my Brains Out!

If you have reached the point of having to call the IRS, I prescribe multiple Brambletinis, friend. You will need them.

Taxes/IRS Make Me Want to Blow my Brains Out!

If you have just wage income and no other "complications" it's a breeze. Add stocks or anything else into the mix though and suddenly you have to buy their most expensive "premium" addition and struggle through hours of material that is often not even applicable to your situation.
