Mac Baren HH Pure Virginia at 5 Years
I'm going to have to try this one eventually. I just tried MacBaren's Modern Va Flake for the first time yesterday, and it was a very tasty smoke, especially with 6 yrs of age on it (thanks to ashdigger for the sample)!- musicman

Yes, many many times. Generally, I prefer mechanical action, as I feel more in touch with the instrument. My previous position had a wonderful tracker that I still sorely miss playing. Depends on the blend. Many blends, leave in the tin. However, some tin designs have been prone to failure (especially the rectangular ones), and some blends prone to mold in the past. I haven't had direct experiences with either, but many on this forum have, and there is nothing like aging a...- musicman

A Balkan, in my book, is an English with the Oriental leaf highlighted instead of the Virginia leaf. An Oriental is just that, a blend with the oriental highlighted. Jim's Watch City Simply VOriental Review.
I tend to think that this is just the direction the market is going, especially with boutique, small volume blenders. I'd liken it to the craft beer market, where there are literally hundreds of limited-release beers that people will line up to purchase, and often sell out in one day. So yes...- musicman

I will echo what others have said about prep and drying, and add that I think 2-3 weeks in a jar helps this particular blend to taste its best when fresh. Oh I think Haunted Bookshop has it's fans on here, although I'm not one of them. :) Last word of advice, find an online merchant that will ship to you, or a friend in a different state. Washington has some of the most onerous pipe tobacco laws around, and if you're cellaring at B and M prices...- musicman

If you're still relatively new at this, I'd recommend not doing any seriously deep cellaring before you figure out what genres you like best. You don't want to cellar deep in Burley blends only to find out you really don't like burley as much as you thought. I (and many, I think) did this...- musicman
