    Camel Meat

I'd eat the mothacluck out of some camel meat. Not too different from horse or cow or elk or deer in my mind.

What Are the Most Fireproof Blends?

I've only ever had an issue with SG Blends when I'm impatient. It annoys me sometimes because they have some of the only blends that I think taste better with more moisture, but of course then they don't burn as well. I also love tonquin (1792 and Sam's flake), and I lose a good bit of that...

Why Did D&R Stop Selling Picayune?

Anyone that throws shade at a blend for being dry and "burning too hot", especially in regards to D&R, is not someone who's opinion I respect. I found most reviews slamming D&R seemed to be people that struggled to smoke it.

Anyone Know Why Solani Aged Burley Flake is So Scarce Lately?

It'll be restocked soon if you keep an eye out, I think I remember Ernie posting about it recently.

Looking for a Laid Back Virginia Blend

Along with the others already listed, ones that match your criteria are Newminster 400 (honey/sugar topping) and Match Flying Dutchman (Vanilla/licorice/sugar topping).

I Guess it's My Turn for a Grow Thread

Broke out the old germination station last weekend. Growing some tobacco for the first time this year. Definitely not a stranger to starting grows from seed. Former big-time pepper grower. I aim to do 37 plants: -12 Yellow Twist Bud (Burley) -12 Canik (Oriental from the Samsun family) -13...

    Gawith Hoggarth Dark Birds Eye

Haven't had it but I'm a huge fan of the dark fired that GH uses in their blends. Very nice complexity and flavor. I like it in the dark flake aromatic and Kendal Flake. Don't plan on buying much of anything with any substantial latakia or dark fired ever again though, with my cellar and how...

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Breaking in a pipe I've had but haven't smoked, with a blend I put on ice to age in a jar - The RC Sands with Chatham Manor.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Finally broke out this Scott's Handmade Pipes large craggy sandblast for a huge bowl o' Bosun. *Perfect* drilling, fitting, and draw. Preceded by some D&R AP Rimboche in the Altinay Meer.

    Burly Blends- Recommendations

If you like licorice/anise you are in luck. Aged Burley Flake, Sutliff Fields and Stream, Sir Walter Raleigh, all contain the stuff. If not I'd suggest Stokkebye Cube cut, despite the viriginia content, Sutliff Ready Rubbed Match, or Low Country Virginia and Burley.

***What Are You Smoking, March 2021?***

Today I made full use of my oft-neglected Altinay Meer. Had two bowls of KBV Patience Of Doctor Silence (my favorite condimental DFK blend), followed up by my daily dose of SG Sam's Flake for my oriental fix.

    Curly Block Now From Wessex

I've got perique coming up to my eyeballs, and although I could understand the shagrin of having an attachment to something beloved that is changing, I'm not categorically against the inclusion of Burley. Especially if the percentage of Virginia is the same. However, I personally find burley to...

    RIP Perique ?

Please stick around, your posts are needed around here. I'd be really interested in some hard numbers as to pipe tobacco sales trends and whether increases in sales may potentially contribute to the perique shortage. I'm sure for some of the companies like K&K, the situation and resulting...

    RIP Perique ?

I'm in the same boat. Any new oriental-based blends are an instant buy for me, especially if a unique oriental is featured. Watch City Voriental is really the only one that's come around for a while now.

    Tobaccoreviews.com

It's not a GUI based site, it's an info database. That was obviously lost upon whomever was in charge of the redesign and now that information is harder, not easier to access. Another example of nuance and purpose being lost in this objective-less contemporary time.

    2021 Chicago Pipe Show Announcement!

Should be able to make it for the first time. I've always loved visiting Chicago.

    More Kudos for Scottie Piersel

I've actually always loved her pipes, so this is great to hear. Thanks for sharing. Maybe I can stretch my budget to also getting a commissioned pipe from her one day.

    Chamber Diameter

I can smoke any blend as I like it in a 3/4" chamber. It's the do it all size. However, I smoke a cob, a falcon, and a pot regularly that do not have the same inner diameter. Where I am consistent, is in preferring my chambers to be between 1.2 to a max of about 1.6 inches, depending on blend...

    Blender's Bench Availability?

What you'll find left, per my conversation with D&R staff a while ago now, is leftover BB stuff. You were pointed the right direction as to the only source I know of that carries the stuff. I'm in agreement with Embers, burley is the ticket.
