It seems that Curly Block will now be under the Wessex name.
I wonder if the change to the recipe (more burley, less perique) is the reason for the name change.
Photo of the older, beloved version.

Is there a change in manufacturer as well?
I understand it will be K&K. There had already been a change when at least part of it came from STG in the form of a Cavendish bullseye that wasn't in the original. Jiminks thought the original was very similar to the Murray's Dunhill Navy Rolls. Now it's similar to...to...whatever it's now similar to.

STG has the only equipment on the European Continent that can spin ropes to that density, namely the old Escudo machinery acquired from Gallagher. Recipe changes, name changes, happen all the time, and you can’t always tell the players even with a scorecard, since one manufacturer will gladly produce tobacco for a competitor if the contract terms are right. STG makes other things for k&k.

I don’t know who all will be selling the Wessex Curly Block, but the shop offering to break it down into smaller portions is Watch City. Not sure others will.

I've got perique coming up to my eyeballs, and although I could understand the shagrin of having an attachment to something beloved that is changing, I'm not categorically against the inclusion of Burley. Especially if the percentage of Virginia is the same.

However, I personally find burley to be a varietal that is not used to its advantage enough. C&D'S success with their dark burley comes to mind.

In fact, burley and Orientals seem to be this monolith of flavor, almost like American style black Cavendish, in that it is commonly the same and not fully explored or taken advantage of as much as I hope it would be.

Pretty sure I went way off topic though lol.

Great! Why couldn't someone else have gotten it? Now that it is a Wessex product it will just be as impossible to get as Gold Block and the rest of Wessex's non-aro bullshit.
Hell, I would have been happier if Sutliff had gotten it, because they don't seem to run out of anything. And, those that know my Sutliff digs will know that, that is saying a lot.
