    Push Stem Kaywoodie

If you post pictures I'll help you date them. If the clovers on the stems are bordered in white but not solid, you probably have a newer version. Push stem versions of Kaywoodie are usually very old, or fairly new. Solid pipes. A forum member here, @greywoodie sells them at his shop...

    C&D From Beyond

Agree. Much gets said about Burley being taken more seriously by C&D and others, as opposed to just a component or a base for flavoring. Would be nice to see more Oriental dominant blends without latakia.

    Any Love for Penny Farthing?

My tastes have gone haywire in the last 6 months or so, and any blend I smoke with DFK means that's all I taste. I have a tin of Penny Farthing, but I'll be sitting on it for a while do to the aforementioned, and because I already have too much open that needs to be smoked.

    Half and Half Tobacco

Great write up. I really like fresh half and half.

    The Elusive $5 Cigar

My favorites at the closest price are Cuban Montecristo #5s for $6 a piece OTD. The cheaper Arturo Fuentes are good for the price but not $5. Some of the CAO series can be found very cheap, the Brazilia surprised me how good it was for the price. Definitely can be had below $5. Comes down to...

    That Was Really Good!

I'm big on all kinds of cheese, and eat it all over the world. Blue was my first real love. Bought some French triple cream as an afternoon snack yesterday, the bagger at the grocery didn't put in the bag! I was real bummed...

A Rumination on Super Sweet, Candy-flavored Aro Bombs

I don't smoke many aros straight, but definitely enjoy mixing them with other blends. I frickin love tonquin, wish there were more tonquin bombs apart from 1792. Also love whatever is on Half and Half, dissipates too quick unfortunately. I have a decent amount of Ennerdale cellared, need to put...

    MacBaren HH Burley Flake

HH Burley Flake: More on the cocoa side than the nutty/earthy side like my other burley favorites. The Virginia in it is good. Lends sweetness but doesn't distract from the Burley. Burns slow but very easily. The flavors get stifled when too much ash builds over the ember, which is solved...

    What Cigar are You Smoking?

Isla Bastimentos (and Bocas Del Toro) on the Caribbean side of Panama.

    R.I.P. Storytellers Pipe

Yeah the outstanding owners were what made the business, not the website, ip, theme, selection, etc. Interesting times.

I've been smoking through a 5 pack of Habanos Monte #5s. Loving life on vacation in Panama

    All Day Blends

I smoke what I feel like, and don't set arbitrary confines on what I can smoke and when. The main thing keeping me from smoking any blend all day is that I don't want to only smoke one blend repeatedly. There have been temporary exceptions to this, of course.

Half and Half with Tonka Beans

I love tonquin flavoring, and plan to buy some Tonka beans and make my own Tonka flavoring to add to blends in the future. I have a tin of Gentlemen Caller that I've sat on for a couple years that I'll get too one of these days. Never tried deertongue though. But to get back to the thread...

    Nuttiest Burley?

I get it the most from C&D's dark burley. I get it from Low Country and the Burley Flake blends.

Who Makes the Best Factory Pipe Sub $100?

    Kaywoodie, then something French.

This Could Explain Why Some Bent Pipes are "Mysteriously Bad" Smokers

One of the many reasons I buy straight pipes, is that I can modify the Airway and work on the stem to suit my preferences fairly easily. I use Swiss needle files for the job. But disaster stemwork for sure isn't just a bent stem problem. I've been pretty blown away at what I've found seen as...

    Where Is Cotton Boll?

From the little I've sampled of my homegrown, grown right, some straight Burley can be pretty stiff. Then again I retro and chug straight burley like a fine straight aged virigina cause I love that 'ish. Funny enough I've always thought the personal chemistry adage was bull. But a bowl of...
