This pipe is pretty darn near my ideal of the perfect pipe. It would be my entry into the "if you could have any pipe in the world" thread. I did manage to finally get a Sasieni One Dot, but it's not what I would consider my ideal shape (nor is it specially selected), and it's also en route...
Those older tobaccos were higher quality leaf and they rehydrate well and smoke beautifully, especially if you prefer a subtler presence of aromatizers. My approach with these has always been to put them, bags and all, inside a hermetic box (Tupperware) with around 150mL of water (in an open...
The "faux hallmarks" by early American pipemakers have anchors as well. And some sort of bird. And a lion. Doesn't make them British, by any means. I'd say there's a significant amount of evidence that it's a Premier pipe. I like Premier pipes and have a few in my collection.
According to Simon, the owner of MySmokingShopUK--who happens to also own the rights to Ben Wade--these pipes are made in the same factory that manufactures Peterson's low (standard) grades.
We have so many that I took up skinning and butchering them as a hobby. I think that having evolved to be so fast, they never really acquired any other "tough" traits like squirrels did. They're very passive and inoffensive creatures.
I've never purchased from them but personally I wouldn't be inclined to risk it unless they had something that I really, really wanted and was prepared to wait for, and that might ultimately turn out to not be in stock. On balance, we have more options for obtaining many of these things than...
I think, frankly, that profit margins have had more to do with the decline in quality of our tobaccos in the near term than changes in rainfall. The pursuit of cheaper Brazilian Virginias is more a matter of finance, and decisions made by people who value profit over quality (and perhaps don't...
"Coleman held a bachelor's degree in journalism and stated in interviews that he has not conducted any scientific research in the area of climate change."
The first one looks American, not English, due to the ring. I'd choose the second, personally, but only after careful inspection of the stampings. The first pipe looks "off" somehow.
I liked the classic coils.
Where I work there are two people, who report to one another, that stand around all day with clipboards, taking and retaking inventory day after day, and looking for "little improvements" that they can suggest and implement between them.
Neither of them actually DO...
Change is inevitable. For my part I am grateful that pipe tobacco is even still being produced. I try a little of the new releases, and if it's something I like, I put away several pounds of it. I enjoy making the comparisons. Some tobaccos have changed so radically (and for the worse) that...
DHL Express has no restriction on importing tobacco and their customs agents have admitted as much to me in writing. Also says so in the DHL Express manual. Things like this happen but it's usually due to miscommunication of some sort, or inexperienced DHL agents.
