And regular stuff that's marked up substantially. CVP for $17 and change for example.looks like they have some stuff that's semi hard to get.
their prices seem all over the place. I've been shocked both ways wow good price for that, no way I'd pay that for it.And regular stuff that's marked up substantially. CVP for $17 and change for example.
Carter.....I was scanning the Dreaming Pipes website today. It seems to me that much of their business goes to China. It looks like they've created a "system" for dealing with sales of Esoterica pipe tobaccos----the DP Rewards system.
A buyer gets one DP Rewards point per US Dollar spent. For access to purchase a tin of Esoterica you need 1,899 DP Rewards points; an 8oz bags, you will need 5,499 DP Rewards.
A $5499 price of admission to purchase a single bag of Esoterica per year. Yowza.
Let them have it, I say. One of the online chains here in the UK has ‘bumped’ the price of Germains up 30% or more, knowing full well the Chinese will buy it all up in minutes.I was scanning the Dreaming Pipes website today. It's all cachet isn't it. They could sell the name to Sutliff and the Chinese would still buy it while it remains a status symbol. China can stick to their gourmet teas and leave the tobacco blending to the experts I say .I’m only surprised the Chinese haven’t already come up with a ‘copycat’ blender of their own by now. It’s only a matter of time, I’m sure.

I think I'd stick with the $35 to $40+ per 8oz bag that I paid. And since I have about 30 lbs of various Esoterica blends, all bought at regular retail, I don't see any need to buy more of it, especially since the tobaccos have gone downhill in recent years.I was scanning the Dreaming Pipes website today. They do indeed have greater recognition in China, but I consider them to be a reliable U.S. seller that offers excellent customer and after-sales service. Out of support for them, I always prioritize placing orders with them. They appear to be based in New York, and you can find their name listed among the New York distributors on the Laudisi website. (Named Keystone Pipe Trading Company)So this place is still good to buy from?

I've never purchased from them but personally I wouldn't be inclined to risk it unless they had something that I really, really wanted and was prepared to wait for, and that might ultimately turn out to not be in stock. On balance, we have more options for obtaining many of these things than, say, international buyers. I'm not saying they're sketchy or anything mind you.So this place is still good to buy from?

You make a valid point. I must clarify that my previous reply was indeed an incomplete evaluation from the perspective of a Chinese consumer. They fulfilled my orders as agreed and responded quickly to my after-sales needs, that’s all. Any U.S. members should not take my evaluation as a reference and should stay vigilant, especially in matters involving taxes. I’ll send them an email to see if they are willing to provide an explanation.I started to notice some things…
On the Home page the banner at the top. Flat $3.99 Shipping on US Orders less than $95.
Really only $3.99…

Then in the Shipping section, it says USPS Priority Mail and UPS Ground service are our preferred shipping partners. Now the shipping cost instead varies from $3.99 to real time calculated rates. Ok so much for that Flat $3.99 banner…
USPS Priority Flat Rate is more than $3.99 and if it can’t go Flat Rate, it can easily cost more. UPS Ground rates on something just under $95, it could also easily cost more than $3.99.

Next, I saw some pipe tobacco listed in stock, then I go to add it to the cart, and it says it’s out of stock.

Getting back to the so called calculated real time shipping rates. Does anyone see the word Shipping in this check out order? When I was ready to place the order, there was no calculated rate. As I’m sure many here have placed online orders, you do see it calculate shipping after putting in an address. After I put in an address, a spinning circle appeared on the middle of the website, possibly suggesting this happening, but then nothing afterwards.
Also no TAX was charged. This is a serious offense not collecting taxes.

Having a site online with this many discrepancies is not acceptable and unprofessional. This is also how scamming sites look, with various things out of place, that some might not notice.
Bottom Line: These are two manyRed Flags!
I’d stay away from this site for now! If they are legit, the site seriously needs correcting!
Big thumbs down!
