    Aromatics With a Little Extra

Their Countryside blend is an aromatic English, too, that's one of my favorite aro's.

Show Off Your Castello Pipes Here!

Okay, you guys finally got to me. Went ahead and pulled the trigger on this Castello Old Antiquari 55 (KKKK). Breaking it in this week with my last tin of Durbar. So far I'm loving it. Don't know if I'll end up liking Castello as much as Ser Jacopo, but who knows.

    What are You Reading Now?

After being thoroughly gutted by Never Let Me Go, I decided to read another by Kazuo Ishiguro, Klara and the Sun. Looks like this one is going to do it to me again. What a fantastic writer.

1970s Unsmoked Castello Sea Rock bent Billiard with Military Mount

Are the Castello pipes with the gem in the stem the Carlo models? And the newer ones with the stripe style mark the Kino? I wondered why they changed their marque.

    Castello Sea Rock

I've been collecting the Jobey Stromboli pipes and just love that style of coarse rustication. I'm pretty sure that I'll be getting a Castello Sea Rock or two in the near future.

    Esoterica Tilbury

For some reason my local B&M always gets the same three Esoterica blends: Pembroke, Dorchester, and Tilbury. I have quite a lot of each, but the only one of the three that I really like is Dorchester. Reminds me of Elizabethan Mixture with a bit of an extra kick to it.

    Favorite GLP

Gaslight is my all time favorite tobacco. Chelsea Morning gets switched out regularly with EMP for mornings/coffee and Abingdon, as well as Quiet Nights and Sixpence, are regulars. Pretty much all of the Old London series is top notch.

How Often does Your Favorite Tobacco Change?

My favorite tends to always be a Balkan blend. I get on kicks where I favor one over the others, like my current every-other-day bowl of Black House that I'm doing right now. But I really don't change in that regard. Now, that said, if you name a style of tobacco, I will also have a current...

It Just Looked Like a "Me" Pipe

I always think that authors (like a 320) look like "me" but the only pipe I ever get compliments along the lines of "that pipe fits you" is a Ser Jacopo Calabash that I break out once in a while. Go figure.

Should I still use vinyl lined tobacco pouches. Or surgical rubber better choice?

I've got one, but I usually put three or four small amounts of different tobaccos in there in baggies. This seems the best practice I've found for most tobacco pouches.

    Peterson St. Patrick’s Day 2023

Great minds think alike! I almost bought the Deerstalker in the rusticated and ended up with the XL13 (Baker Street). I have a smooth Deerstalker in the Sherlock Holmes series so I thought this was a cool way to pick up a unique Baker Street. Got it today and it looks/smokes beautifully.

    Floral Pipe Tobacco?

No Name definitely has that floral/incense tone that many of the Lakelands have. I love that tobacco. Go through about a half pound of it a year, along with Tashkent.

    Peterson St. Patrick’s Day 2023

Guess I'm lucky that I rather prefer the rusticated version of this pipe. The smooth just looks...well, like any smooth pipe. Sandblasted is nice, but rather common as well. I dig the rough rustication. Not sure why anyone is turning up their nose at it.

    Xmas Italian pipes?

Nice! I have a Ser Jacopo billiard that looks more like a rusticated apple with a straight stem that I love. That got me looking at other pipes from Pesaro and led to the purchase of an estate Il Ceppo calabash from SmokingPipes. Just need a Mastro de Paja to complete the trifecta! I got...

    How Are These Still Available?

I think it's a rather fair price for the four tins being pre-aged--and the fact that the new tins cost basically the same. Are the ones here complaining about the price the same ones who didn't like the price of the special edition Christmas plum pudding that sold out in a couple hours? If you...

Yuletide happiness to all! Enjoy the Festivus pole and don't be too harsh with the airing of grievances.

    Smoky Mountain Tobacconist - Gatlin-Burlier

Great little shop that's easy to miss. Bought a 100% Latakia blend from him called "No Local" that I love to mix in other tobaccos (and smokes rather well on it's own). Very knowledgeable on German pipe makers and probably has a couple blends that fit you if you tell him what you like.

Another New Pipe, I Can’t Stop The Madness!

    Visited Peretti’s Today

Peretti's has some damn fine tobacco blends. My faves are their Oriental, Ampersand, 150th Anniversary flake, and No Name. Their English blends are fine, too, but they're kind of a blur for me as I had a sampler of them and they tended to sort of taste/smell the same (seems like I liked Royal...
