With me I was a staunch English smoker for decades and then I got into my 60's and all of a sudden it was over. I went from a confirmed English smoke to a VaPer smoker in about a year. My taste buds had morphed into wimps. C'est La Vie, C'est La Guerre, C'est La Shit. Just another way of saying that change is the only constant.

The word favorite doesn't really enter into my thought process when it comes to tobacco.

I have three levels I judge tobacco by:

1. I really like it and will purchase more.

2. I'll smoke through it, but won't buy again unless I'm craving it.

3. I don't like it.

I have a top tier of 10 or so that doesn’t really change much, but no one blend is at the top. I’ve added a couple of blends to that list in the last few years. There are dozens more blends that I like a lot and will smoke when one comes to mind

Title edited for capitals. Rule 9.

I'm sitting here, with a bowl of aged HH ODF, socks get blown off.
Then light up a bowl of PPSR, and once again socks blown off.
Then I light up a bowl of aged Orliks DSK, socks blown off.

I'm right there with you. I'm a newer pipe smoker myself and every day something new that I try becomes my favorite. I just popped a tin of Old Joe Krantz last night and thought, yep, this is it, after saying the same thing only hours earlier after my very first bowl of Chelsea Morning. Definitely having a good time sampling all the great blends I have.

I'm not positive, but this (below) might be the thread @Chasing Embers was referring to:

.....

We manufacture our tobacco to be enjoyed at acquisition.
If you wish to "cellar" our blends, be it on your own head.
From our point of view, why would you want to faff around with our product?

That was a great thread, thanks for sharing! I just read it in its entirety. @sablebrush52’s post near the end was just the icing on the cake, that had me cracking up, I may have to hunt down the thread it was intended for.

My favorites change monthly. But I ALWAYS rotate the same 6 blends, and don't stray from them.

My favorites are Pegasus and sir Walter Raleigh, but if I could only smoke one forever, it’d be Pegasus. My tastes haven’t really changed much but I’ve heard of some on this forum that have experienced that.

I have several blends I like a lot more than everything else but hard to say I have a hardcore favorite. I add blends to the preferred list as I run across them, always returning to the preferred blends in between.

My favorite tends to always be a Balkan blend. I get on kicks where I favor one over the others, like my current every-other-day bowl of Black House that I'm doing right now. But I really don't change in that regard. Now, that said, if you name a style of tobacco, I will also have a current favorite in that category as well, but my favorite overall tobacco will always be a Balkan blend.

Some really great posts in there about product consistency, too. 👍
