    Coincidence?

No, I just let him know it was a good cigar and it's even better with 15 years on it. I am anything but a "elitist smoker", as I sit here smoking MacB Va#1 in a corn cob. And I'm sure not going to quit something I enjoy because of others words, that's just silly. I do not make emotional...

    Coincidence?

Yep, I just thought we could be adults and have a cigar. I didn't think I needed to grill him on his preferences. Seriously, it's not even about the cigar, or the money, or.....the cigar. :) Either don't accept it, or puff on the damn thing for awhile......in my opinion.

    Coincidence?

He said he LOVED cigars! It was only later I learned he liked Backwoods cigars. I informed him these were fine handmade PREMIUM cigars. Oh well, im already over it. My thing was that even if the cigar wasn't "my cup of tea", I would choke down at least 1/2. Especially after learning how prized...

    Coincidence?

The other day someone posted about delayed gratification. During this conversation I brought up the weirdos that like to DG a cigar. I said I didn't really care for DGing a pipe, but cigars were FAR worse. Weeeeell, this brings us to yesterday. We had my wifes good friend and her husband staying...

    Stolen or Style or Innovation

Here is my take.... On Tom Eltangs site, it says this "Basic Poker" was designed by Tom in his Copenhagen workshop. On Nordings site it says the "Compass" shape is "a Danish inspired shape". This shape is unmistskingly Tom Eltangs. I remember when they came out he said he wanted a lesser priced...

    What is a "Pipe Club"

I sort of belonged to a pipe club for awhile. It was 1.5 hours away from me, so I only went a few times. There were about 15 guys and one lady who met at the home of several members. They would rotate who was hosting. They met once a month, 2x in the Summer. The host would have snacks and...

    Delayed Gratification

I get the food thing, but ive never cared for the pipe thing. I've done it plenty, and don't hate it, I just don't notice much difference. And cigars are an absolute no for me. I know some guys like to DG cigars, but I'll toss them or won't light it if I don't have time.

    Charatan Belvedere, lowest smooth grade??

I love the size of Lane Era Chartans and never noticed a difference with the DC stems. And Vulcanite stems are my preference. :) We are so lucky in this hobby that there are so many choices and lucky that old pipes hold up so good. I just wish the same was true for my other passion....1950s-1984...

Can't Have Too Many Brits! Hello from Merrie Olde England...

Well, there was a time in the US when.....um.....oh, nevermind. :) Welcome to the group from NEW York.

Didn't Worry About Packing and Guess What?

That's been my advice for years when new smokers get stressed about packing. For many years I have shoved crammed, poured, smashed.....tobacco in my pipes. I rarely need more than one relight. 99% of the time my pipe burns down to the bottom, then I give one relight try. The same goes for many...

What is Your Lighter of Choice?

Bic 100% of the time. When I started a couple decades ago, I went from matches, to fancy lighters, but ended with a Bic. Ive got 2 Old Boys, several Zippos and a drawer full of other random lighters.

    Tamping Practices

I'm mindless too!! Most pipes I don't tamp until the very bottom to see if there is anything left. And I also use my finger.

Old Codger All Day Smoking with One Pipe

There are some Amish in our area that do use cell phones. They have phone booths outside their homes with a landline and a cell phone charger. Many of them sell wood, tack and do roofing and building, so they "need" a phone. But the ones in my direct area, near our home, are Shwartsentruber...

Old Codger All Day Smoking with One Pipe

Nope, it's too cheap on the local reservation. They need their land and time for food and living. Also, smoking is a vice and an extravagance many in their culture look down on. Growing tobacco would not go over good. :)

I Invented a New Style of Pipe...

I have seen SIMILAR looking pipes, but yours are different and creative. Heck, you may be the next big thing!!! :)

Yep, you lost me right after the part about not being about "Debbie Does Dallas". :)

Americans: Do You Not Have 'Normal' Coins Anymore?

Never believe our government cannot find another way to friviously spend our tax dollars. I'm sure each quarter costs at least 2.7 million dollars to get to production. :)

    Salivating When Clenching

Like @dottlejockey said, holding the pipe just behind the button may help. This helped me and was a suggested fix back on the old Smokers Forums. Some suggested that if too much of the stem touches your tongue, it can trigger your salivary glands.

    Skippy's Blend of the Week

I look forward to your reviews. I USED to have the same problem, but I just smoked it all. I stopped buying tobacco for a few years. I currently have about 35 blends, pounds of a few of them and only add to the cellar if I REALLY like the blend. This way, by the time I die, I should have a...

New Product From Brigham of Real Interest

Yep, we all have enough "micro" plastics in us to make a decent pipe stem....some of us may have enough for a Churhwarden stem. :)
