    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Mylar works great, but I have seen the bags loose their seal if done incorrectly. As long as you use caution while bagging, you will be fine. I'm a jar guy personally, but know many baggers.

    How Do You Remove Rust?

A good CLP gun spray will remove MINOR surface rust and protect the metal. CLP is Clean, lube, and protect. You can also use it on wood, leather and all kinds of metal. I use Ballistol and G96. They are both great....and very inexpensive. For tougher rust try 0000 steel wool, then the gun lube...

What Blends to Bring Home from USA?

Check out Cornell & Dhiel and GL Pease while you're here. I'm pretty sure you cannot get them in Europe. Also Carter Hall, Prince Albert, Half & Half, Sir Walter Raleigh and Five Brothers for American style "over the counter" blends. For American OTC aromatics, you can try Captain Black.....if...

Holding a Pipe in Your Mouth

Do it however feels comfortable. I just started doing it naturally due to typing online while smoking. :) I use my front teeth just behind the tip and rest on my bottom lip sometimes. I have about 1/2 inch of the stem in my mouth at most. I'm not a molar clenched. No dentures here, I have all...

    Your Journey With Nicotine

I dipped a bit in high school to be cool. Then quit at about 20 years old. When I joined the Army in 2001 when I was 30, a lot of guys smoked cigarettes. Yes, I joined the Army at 30 years old. :) I picked up long cut Copenhagen again and never put it down. Except now I exclusively use Stokers...

    Opening A Tin? Show Us!

Just opened a tin of GLP Abingdon from July 2019. I'll let you know how it tastes in a few days in the daily smoke thread. I'm currently smoking it fresh from the tin in my Charstans Make oversized 211.

    Halloween

My wife does up the house inside and out.....for all holidays. Im forced to grow and turn pumkins all summer because she commands it. If you've never grown a perfectly round pumpkin, you have no idea how time consuming it is. :) Of course we live WAY out, so no halloweeners come. But, I insist...

    Wrong Turn.

Me too. Maps and signs got millions of people coast to coast for many decades. Most places I go these days I know the route without help.

What Makes a Pipe Smoke Wet?

Yep, ive been doing that for years online. :) In my opinion

How Many Cutters And Lighters Do You Have?

I have a BUNCH of cutters, but use my Buck Stockman 100% of the time. The lighter....a Ronson Jetlite. They are hard to find anymore but they DO exist. The best $4 you will spend on a cigar lighter. Super cheap, refillable and the absolute perfect flame for a cigar...in my opinion. Ive been...

    Your Favorite Underrated Blend

My absolute favorite tobacco has a LOT of reviews....but many, many bad reviews. My beloved MacBaren Virginia #1. The bad reviews are 100% due to tongue bite.....a blistering inferno of BITE!! I've not experienced the bite, it's just delicious too me. Most reviews say something like, "quality...

Your Best Cheap Pipe; Here's Mine; Let's See Yours!

Excluding gifts, estates and cobs.... About 10 years ago I found a box of old pipes while looking in our local very small, mom and pop cigar shop. All "new old stock" from a local news shop that closed in the late 1980s. I asked if they were for sale, Bill says "everything's for sale". The box...

Had to Evacuate From Fire Zone - I Took Tobacco

I don't believe I could fit my tobacco and my wife in my truck. I sure hope she can run faster than fire.

What Makes a Pipe Smoke Wet?

This is almost exclusively caused by a poorly drilled pipe, or spit going down your stem. Any harsh edges or tight bends will cause condensation in your pipe. A needle file and some work can do wonders. If I cannot fix a gurgler, I get rid of it.

I Hope You Don't Mind If I Gripe

You're preaching to the choir here.....I'm in the Imperial State of New Yorkistan. We CURRENTLY can get pipes and tobacco in the mail.....also weed, weed seeds, pot pipes....yada, yada. But NO knives or ammunition unless sent to an FFL so a background check can be done. Woooohooo. Keeping the...

    Can this Website be Trusted?

I thought you meant THIS website. And the answer is absolutely NOT!! There are hooligans, curmudgeons and Burley smokers all in one place!!

"Accidentally" Aged Tins - Smoke or Save?

As others have said, after 10 years the tobaccos are about at their limits. Like you, I quit for years and came back last Spring. I had about 60 pounds of jarred and tinned tobaccos from 2005-2019. It has been MY experience that after the 10 year mark, tobacco doesn't change much. I have popped...

    Cellaring question

I'm pretty sure I've never tried Kerr jars. The ones I've had issues with are cheapo store brands from Walmart, Amazon, Big Lots.....places like that. Either the jar rims are not straight and smooth, or the rubber on the lids is inferior.

    Pipe Shapes

I realized that I never answered the question in my post. I PREFER straight pipes, but have many bents too.

    Bought an Old LHS Sterncrest

This will sound odd, but it's true. Years ago I had a pipe with a hole like that on the bottom. I used an old Missouri Meerschaum stem, melted it in a tin and filled the hole with the melted plastic. I used a doubled over pipe cleaner put into the stem to keep the melted plastic from going in...
