    Flameproof / Noncombustible Blends?

^^^^^ This has been my experience too. I've dried it, put it in an electric coffee grinder, cut it into very small cubes yada yada but the darn stuff just won't burn! I finally gave up & traded away most of the tins I had. Still have a couple, though. Anyone care to make me an offer?

    Available Christmas Aromatic Blends

Straus Tobacconist Wenceslas Milan Tobacconists' Christmas Blend Sutliff Cringle Flake Peretti Yuletide Uhles used to have a yearly Christmas blend but I don't think they've had one the last couple years. I am sucker for Holiday blends & often go on an aromatic pipe tobacco bender this time of...

What Blend did your Grandfather Smoke?

My maternal Grandfather was the person who got me started smoking a pipe. If memory serves me correctly, he smoked a variety of the many OTC blends of the time (1950s-60s-70s) but the main one I remember was Mixture No. 79. I like it too!

Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake- What Else Has That Topping?

Stokkebye Luxury Twist Flake is a Virginia/cavendish blend with a coconut flavor. While more aromatic than LTF, two other blends with a tasty coconut flavor are Sutliff No. 19 Coconut Almond & Peretti Blend 432

    Christmas blends

I'm a sucker for Christmas pipe tobaccos & will buy a few every year when they're offered. Over the years I've really enjoyed the ones from Uhles, Peretti, Boswell, C&D, Dan Tobacco, Milan Tobacconist, & others. It seems to me that the recent deeming regulations have limited new Christmas...

The Line Forms To The Left...

Peretti's Thanksgiving Day has become a November tradition for me. I think many pipe smokers are missing out when they don't give it a try because it's considered an "aromatic". It's a lightly cased delicious burley blend that's extremely tobacco-forward & definitely not what would be...

No Tobacco Tastes as Good as it Smells!! Discuss

My own experience (having smoked a pipe since 1968) would change that statement to: "The thing with MOST pipe tobaccos is it doesn't taste exactly like it smells." Having tried a substantial number of different kinds of blends over the years, I haven't noticed an absolute correlation between...

Sweet Tasting Bulk Tobacco That Doesn't Lose Flavor With Age

In my experience, Sutliff Creme Brulee is the same as tinned Molto Dolce. The main difference I realized is that bulk Creme Brulee is less expensive. I also thought of another aromatic that fits the bill regarding the OP's inquiry - Uhle's Raider Blend. Apparently Uhles gave samples of...

Sweet Tasting Bulk Tobacco That Doesn't Lose Flavor With Age

Lane LL-7 & Sutliff Creme Brûlée. I've had both blends fresh & after a few years in Mason jars & they don't lose any sweetness or flavor with time. If you don't care for aromatics there are many straight Virginia blends that would work...

    Blends Everybody Should Try Once?

First blend that comes to mind for me: Peretti's Cuban Mixture. Absolutely the most complex blend I've personally tried since I started smoking a pipe in the late 1960's.

    Dark Star

"Strange beast" is a great way to describe McClelland Dark Star, the most asbestos-like pipe tobacco I've ever encountered. I've tried many methods of prepping it. Either the small cube-cut-with-a-scissors or a few pulses of the coffee grinder followed by significant drying time & gravity...

    Subtle but Flavorful Aros

Although it's listed among their non-aromatic blends, Milan Tobacconist's "Our" London Dock is the first blend that springs to mind. The flavorful combination of tobaccos with the added buttered rum is incredibly aromatic to me! Here's how it's described on their website: ""Our" London Dock...

    Lane vs. Captain Black

Personally I don't know for certain if many of the Captain Black offerings are, indeed, Lane bulk blends put in a pouch with more humectant or not. I've read that they are/they aren't, but have never seen a definitive answer to the conundrum. However, it's been my impression & personal...

    Smaller Pipes...

Over the years I've added a number of smaller pipes to my humble collection. Perfect for a quick smoke, especially for flakes or Lakelands My favorites are the Savinelli Kings Cross Featherweigt series, followed closely by the Sasieni Litewate ones. Rossi, Chacom, & Genod also make some nice...
