    Good new for slobberers

It is interesting. I've noticed that its a lot like food and wine. Different foods bring out different flavors in wine and vise versa. I've found some favorite drink/tobacco combinations, but tend to enjoy sweet tea. I find most sodas to be too sweet. I like the idea of a fizzy water though...

    Beards and Pipes

When people ask me "why do you have that thing on your face", I just smile and say, "because it looks better than what's underneath it!" Not sure why so few fella's let their whiskers grow out, I can't imagine not having some type of facial hair.

    Stereotypes

It is interesting. I have a tweed jacket, dog, shotgun and wear Balmorals! I just find it odd that those stereotypes are so prevalent that people assume that is the sum of your parts because of the pipe in your hand.

You know you have a good dog when...

Good Hound! Every fella needs a bite in the #@! every now and then.

    My pack of dogs

Very cool, its hard to beat a dog and a pipe!

    Stereotypes

I've found it interesting what people will presume to know about you once they find out you enjoy smoking a pipe. I can't tell you how many people I have disappointed when they realize I don't always wear tweed jackets with elbow patches when I smoke. Generally I'm on my front porch in my...

    What are You Reading?

I'm reading a book titled Mountain Spirits. Its pretty much a book of American history with an emphasis on whiskey/corn liquor/moonshine production and how it impacted our development as a nation. I just finished the first volume of Mark Twain's autobiography, and that was one of the best...

Post Your Picture With a Pipe.

Not the best pic, but here I am with one of my Peterson's!

    Billy Budd

I just bought some myself and love it. Very full and rich, great after a good meal with a strong cup of coffee. Its one of those blends where you pick up different nuances every time you smoke it, it just makes you lay back and relax.

    Dental Check-up today

I was concerned about this too, no problems thus far. I'm with you baronsamedi, I can pound out some coffee on an overnight shift, but no problems with that either. I defiantly think the benefits greatly outweigh the risk, but lord help, there's risk in everything we do. I say live life...

    Home Brewing

My family has a shared brew operation, which is a great deal of fun. We've had Wheats, Reds, Scottish Ales, Blonde Ales, basic Ambers and Lagers, IPA's, Pale Ales, Kolsch, pretty much everything but heavier stouts. For the heat down south, (100+ degrees with high humidity on most summer days)...

Country Cousins and the Great Things They Do for Us City Folks

I get free farm fresh eggs and home-brewed beer from my uncle. I'm not gloating though.

    Charred Rim

I used some moonshine once. I just dabbed it on a q-tip and gently rubbed the charred area, took it right off.

    Your latest pipe purchase.

Just got home with a Savinelli Trevi Rusticated Author! Feels great in my hand, and has nice thick walls. Can't wait to light it up! By the way, how do you post images in a post?

What is your perfect smoking setting?

On the front porch in Fall, watching our Maple trees turn. The only way that can get better is if its during a thunderstorm. Thats when I usually deceive myself into thinking that I'll write the next great southern novel. I'd better just stick to reading the great southern novels and working...
