    Jacono Pipes?

Back in the late 1990's, I called Trent McCranie at the McCranie's pipe shop in North Carolina and told him that I had really enjoyed the article in Pipes and Tobaccos Magazine regarding McCranie's Pipe Shop and in particular, the story and pipe photos regarding Tonino Jacono. Not only a pipe...

    Do Tobacco Professionals Read Us?

I find this forum to be a wealth of information from my fellow hobbyists. Over the years the members here have answered a ton of questions for me, both personally and by my reading what is written about pipes and tobaccos from you folks. Every once in awhile someone takes a jab at me - and more...

    US Postal Service Is Horrible

Ditto what kcghost just said. And considering the COVID-19 thing and tons more people ordering online, USPS is more than amazing. Supernatural, in fact.

9004 Thank Yous To Pipe Stud!

And I'm glad you knew what to bid, embers. I obviously didn't. And not only congrats on picking up two outstanding specimens, but thanks for the business, too. I'm a real hero when I can put a little beef in the beans at the family dinner table on occasion! Pipestud

eBay Situation - Wrong Pipe, What Would You Do?

What BROBS advised is spot in. If that eBay seller has a 14-day return policy, you don't even have to correspond with the seller directly. Simply go into your eBay account and in the drop down menu to the right of your item purchase, just click the Return Item prompt and it's smooth sailing from...

Recent Acquisition - Bruce Weaver Bamboo Apple ?

Bruce absolutely made me return a pipe for a new stem. He would not allow me to pay for the replacement. I had purchased the pipe at the Kansas City Show the second year he was showing pipes - wish I could remember the year but want to say 2008 - anyway, he said it was too thick and his hand...

Do You Have a “Blend Routine” Through the Day?

Well, I've been smoking long enough to know what I want. Stout Virginia/Burley the first bowl of the day when I wake up and enjoy with that first cup of coffee. Same for the second bowl. Third bowl in the afternoon may be an aged Virginia to sip on as I work and the final bowl in the evenings...

Poor Old Pipestud Needs Help Again

I'm sure glad you posted that link, 3rdguy. This pipe has an adapter in it and it is so well done that I just thought it was the tenon and would have left the info out of the auction regarding this pipe being able to take a filter.

Poor Old Pipestud Needs Help Again

Howdy Dave, here's a pic of the pipe itself. Don't know if this will help or not. Thanks!

Poor Old Pipestud Needs Help Again

Yes, I've reached the age where I'm starting to be more forgetful. That's why I am glad I am a member of a forum full of not only old guys like me but a bunch of youngsters with still fully functional minds. So, I'm working on a Mastro de Paja this morning for eBay. I get to the nomenclature...

Has Coopersark Stopped Selling Pipes on ebay?

Rob seems to be progressing, although slowly. I was able to talk to him on the phone a couple of times over the last couple of months. He is still having difficulty adjusting to the lingering effects of having gone through a major stroke, but Rob said that according to his doctors and rehab...

    Dating a Velvet Tobacco Tin

1940's. Maybe into the 1950's. A couple of years ago I had a consignor who sent me a few of those identical Velvet tins and I am only going by what he told me. He did run a tobacco shop in Arizona for 47-years before retiring and I think he is probably a solid source.

    Mac Baren HH Rustica Review

Like Kyle, I purchased five tins of Rustica the moment I read the tin description. Unlike Kyle, I decided to show patience and wait a year before trying it. I've learned that the HH blends, particularly the ones with Virginia and Burley, settle and mature quite a bit with some age. HOWEVER...
