My system is usually going from mild to stronger throughout the day. A light Virginia like Rotary Navy Cut, Wessex Gold Slice , Fribourg & Treyer Cut Virginia Plug, F&T SPecial brown flake, are just a few, Next up is usually brown virginia such as Wessex Brigade Campaign Dark Flake, Samuel Gawith Best Brown Flake. Then I work in a vaper like SG St James Flake, Solani 633 , Dunhill Deluxe Navy Rolls, Escudo. Next with be a Virginia/Kentucky / Burley. Stonehaven, Mac Baren Old Dark Fired, Peterson Irish Flake, Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky.

There are many more examples that I switch up in all categories but this should give you a good idea of my system.

In my regular life, when I can smoke two bowls per day I am very lucky, usually first is a Va Per, at least of medium strength, and then an, at least, medium to heavy English. Since the arrival of Mac Baren Old Dark fired, this blend is interchangeable with VaPers. I only have two tins open at a time, an English and a non English, the non English goes first, the English later. When I am not so lucky, I can only smoke one bowl, whichever of the two I fancy most at the time. When, as in most labor week days, I am unlucky, nothing gets smoked. In those days I tend to miss englishes in autumn/winter and non englishes in spring/summer.

I know some folks smoke certain blends on a seasonal basis, but my tastes kind of change with the time of day more so than with the seasons.

For example, my first smoke of the day is usually either some form of VaPer, or “VaBurPer.”
As the day progresses, if I have more bowls, the blends get a little more heavy with Latakia and/or dark fired Kentucky and/or more Perique. If I ever crave anything sweet or more aromatic, it’s usually as a sort of nightcap after I’ve already had some stronger blends during the day.

Do you crave or favor certain blends during certain times of the day?

Well, I've been smoking long enough to know what I want. Stout Virginia/Burley the first bowl of the day when I wake up and enjoy with that first cup of coffee. Same for the second bowl. Third bowl in the afternoon may be an aged Virginia to sip on as I work and the final bowl in the evenings is usually a blend I am trying for the first time or an aromatic for an after dinner dessert smoke.
