    Question on small bowls

I suspect the groups you are talking about are the Dunhill sizes. Bigger number, bigger size with the ODA very large. I'm not sure exactly what else you want to know but here's a couple of tips. 3/4" is usually consider the optimum diameter because of it's smoking characteristics. As to...

    I need some help.

I know Sam personally from SMS and you can trust his pipes to be good block meerschaums. I have 2 right here on my desk that I smoke frequently and they are both very old and fine smokers. A tip when buying a meerschaum: A lot of these Turkish pipe carvers are just that...carvers. They...

    Pipe Cleaning Technique

igloo's post made an idea pop into my head. Why wouldn't one of these work? http://sincityskates.com/images/merch/stuff/tools/allen_wrench.jpg Of course, the good thing about my original tool design is that it costs nothing...

What to do, what to do?

The above suggestions are all good and should work. However, if they don't what I would suggest is you run in circles, scream and shout. Sorry, couldn't resist...

    Pipe Cleaning Technique

I like Raleigh tobacco and I have several pipes I smoke SWR in exclusively. I think it's a great smoke but it does tend to leave a residue in the shank and bowl which is kind of gooey and can build up pretty fast. Soon the shank and bottom of the bowl are so full of it that the pipe doesn't...

Post Your Picture With a Pipe.

Hi Tommy, You can tell from the pics we're about the same age. My grandparent's old house in the background of my pic and the old fashion door with the glass door knob in yours. Ya still drink like that?

Can you identify this pipe maker?

Another clue. I understand Marty Pulver of Sherlock's Haven in San Francisco owns the Baskerville pipe. Any of you who know him might ask him about it and share the info.

Post Your Picture With a Pipe.

I thought it would be fun to see pics of some of the guys smoking their pipes. I don't have a recent one but here's one of me taken a few years ago you might get a kick out of. See, I have been at it a while.

    My great grandfather

I would bet it's a Peterson. Also, from the shine of the bowl and the stem it's probably a new one and a good grade, note the smooth finsh and the silver band. And it would be safe to say that his pipe was important to him if he had a rather formal portrate taken with it. Cool tie!

    Describe the Flavor of 1Q

I'm not a real fan of aromatics, but 1Q is one of the very few I kind of like. Wouldn't know how to describe it...

    Exhausting research.

A bathroom exhaust fan is what I use in my smoking room. I've taken the idea a little farther... I have a corner computer desk thats about 6' high and the exhause is hidden behind the desk. It's in the wall not the ceiling because of the design of the house and blows the smokey air into the...

Building a Pipe Rack - What Type of Wood to Use?

I would think just about any wood would work... although I wouldn't use balsa! I'd just pick a wood I like.

Can you identify this pipe maker?

Because this thread spawned some interest, I'll tell you what else I remember about him. His crime was committed in Alaska and he didn't start out to commit a murder. He got in a fight with a guy and thought he had killed him, paniced and decided to bury the body to hide it, when he was...

Can you identify this pipe maker?

I didn't think this thread would get that kind of reaction. I was not interested in his morals, just his pipes. And besides, I can think of a couple of pipe guys running the streets that are as big a skunk as he is...

    virginia flake how to ?

Another thought... I noticed your a "new" pipe smoker. I hope you realize you have to "tamp" after lighting. What you should try to do is create a slight ash layer on the top of the tobacco. Light, tamp, light, tamp... if you do this it should finally stay lite for a while. Remember, you're...
