Cake, Water Cleaning and a Mistake

I'm a lowly aro and lat smoker, so always take what I say with a grain of salt ;) "Draw" may be a bit loose in how I used it, but if you really had a lot of debris come out of your pipe....then by logic you opened up the bowls capacity by a good bit (equal to volume that you scrambled out). So...

Cake, Water Cleaning and a Mistake

I turn the water up high to get it hot, cut it back to a small stream, and fill up the bowl and let drain out the stem 2-3 times. I do this with the stem on in most pipes. I pipe-clean the stem/mortise and fold over and wipe out the bowl. Set to dry and pipe is good. I should note, when done...

Scotty's Trout Stream Now A Kit?

Usually I don't dive down the rabbit hole, but this is a curious one. I'm sure there is a reason, but I haven't seen any other vendor/blendor do this. If it was flavored tobacco end-run....I don't see how sending various flavored tobacco in seperate bags gets around this. They are flavored...

    Dirty Estate Pipes

Two points that grind my tender gears in this vein: 1. A seller actively hides or misleads on condition of the pipe. This is a a biggie. 2. An estate seller makes a big ol' deal about their 10 step, 100 point, 7 herbs and spices full-tilt cleaning process and the first pipe cleaner you put...

    Where to Buy Unique Tampers

Double+plus thumbs up for Cosmic. He made the one above in the pic, as well as the two he showed earlier in this thread (for me). He took my half-baked ideas and knocked it out of the park. Highly recommended!

    Supply Issues 12/11/2020

Overall, the mail/shipping is fubar'd right now. In general. I wouldn't read tobacco doom and gloom into the supply situation (talking restock at vendors as well), its everything. But....unless there's a "gotta have it and one shot at ordering" situation I would hold orders (of any kind)...

Business Must Be Boomin' at Watch City Cigars

It only takes a relative small handful of interested folks to wipe out a lot of these releases....a tobacco gets a couple threads going on 2-3 popular boards, it's all over pretty quick come the drop. Half-half here for me.....very glad Ernie is picking up ever increasing steam as he's a great...

Back at the bar with some MR Rum Barrel in a Silver Gray. Always killer lines from Ms. Gray, my favorite maker (aesthetically) in the Hawkbill/canted Egg corner of the briar universe.

    Keeping My Fingers Crossed

Pallidan, I'll be looking forward to your thoughts. I've been back and forth on these for a while. Peoples comments run two ways when I check feedback: 1. Awesome. Smoke 10 tubs and you'll never know bowl one got puffed in a room. 2. Gimmick. Smoked one bowl and tobacco smell stained the...

    Found My Love For Latakia

No. K&K is still the manufacturer of the blends, the distribution/marketing for the NA market is the only change. Anything still under Sillems branding is just older stock then the Ayelsbury l.

    R.I.P. Storytellers Pipe

Storytellers Pipe was the bee knees in terms of stock and selection on tobaccos like Silems and Dan. I bought routinely from them and will absolutely miss them being part of the landscape. As my own two cents, I believe their decision is less driven by one or two specific regulations and...

    TobaccoPipesJapan.com

Thanks for the link, I'll be keeping my eye out on this site for sure. Though often smaller than I prefer now, the Japanese makers overall have a terrific visual approach to pipes. Like a lot of Japanese artisan goods it can be hard to find offerings outside their native land (or vendors...

Pipe Porn Purchases Just in Time for The Holidays. Whatchu Got?

I likes em' funky n' chunky. When I first started buying artisans, I leaned to the very meticulously carved smooths. Blowfish and whatever warmed-over Danish from all the 4.7 wave carvers. Most came in around 1"-1.4" tops in chamber depth. I can only speak for myself.... but like in a lot...
