    The Very Last One!!!

I'd choose the Frog. Wife and I make peanut butter balls once or twice a year that smokes Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

    Hello from North East PA

Welcome from southwest Virginia. I was born and grew up in Northeast PA myself (Poconos and Bethlehem). Transplanted to Virginia in 1996.

    Tip About Mercedes

I'm still in love with my low mileage, 1-owner 2014 Audi A4. I've put 12K miles on it in the last year, and have done all service myself with OEM supplies. It's my commuter vehicle. The only annoyance is the computerized media center, which "updates" and locks out the volume selector for 20...

What Is The Lure And Lore Of Esoterica

I've also noticed some batch variation in the Esoterica line. For instance, my Woodbridge from last year is good, mildly aromatic, great sweet light but satisfying tobacco backbone with a wispy fruit/licorice overtone. Nice enough that I bought several bags when available again in April 2009...

Salt And Alcohol Treatment. Why Kosher Or Sea Salt And Not Table Salt?

I'm not sure if it matters in the pipe cleaning application, but the geometry of Kosher salt crystals have a higher surface area per mass (typically pyramidal), whereas typical table salt crystals are cubes. Thus Kosher may dissolve faster and if added as a finish to plated foods, it isn't as...

Talk to Me About Wrist Watches

Another Russian watch. Been a reliable and accurate piece for over 30-years.

    Suspicious of Retrohaling...

I never really paid attention, I just smoke the damned thing. Don't consciously inhale, but every now and again I get a partial lungful. We're not eating tofu and bean sprouts here; we're willingly introducing incomplete combustion products into our bodies for the pure enjoyment of it. Life...

    Is Jarring a One-Time Thing?

Yes that is what he means. I've had several SG square tins over the years where there was substantial surface rust on the inside.

    Is Jarring a One-Time Thing?

I've found no discernible difference between aging in the tin versus jar. If anything, aging in the jar and adding oxygen to the mix improves the flavor quicker according to my tastes. That's my method, see below.

Who Has The Guts to Try This Aromatic Tobacco?

I used to say the same thing about Rose and Geranium flavored tobacco, but then I tried some G&H Grasmere flake.

    Condensation Inside Mason Jar

Oils and probably casing liquids evaporating and condensing on the jar walls.

    Planning To Revisit Cigars

I used to smoke way more cigars before I gravitated 99.95% to the pipe about 8 years ago. Padron anniversary series, Pete Johnson brands, Avo XO, and Fuente's Hemingway series were my favorites. I also loved the short-lived Canimao brand in natural wrapper ( I bought boxes of them before they...

    The Vessel or the Contents?

Exactly, blend first then I'll usually pick the cleanest tasting one of the same 3 or 4 pipes I favor. I have several pipes that don't see any smoke for months, those that I just don't favor for whatever reasons.

    Fireplaces and Wood Burning Stoves

First fire after I installed it last year, it replaced a gas log set that previous owners installed in the family room fireplace. It's an Appalachian Stove insert, late 1980s technology that I got for a great deal. It throws off the heat, and will burn wood as quick as you can load it if not...

What Does Your Scene Look Like?

When I'm on the porch it's always this, gotta love the energy.

    McLelland Replacement

It's not just recipes, but material suppliers and aging. I found several Esoterica blends to fill the void left by my favorite McClellands. Are they matches? Not by any means, but I enjoy them just as well. Stonehaven, Brighton, Kingsbridge, Woodbridge, and Dunbar to be specific.

    Va-Or’s?

Bijou is decent, one of the sweetest non-aromatic C&D blends I have tried to date but still a little rough around the edges. That said, IMHO its flavor profile is nowhere near the OP's inquiry.

    Va-Or’s?

Your tastes sound similar to mine. If you found that Stokkebye Turkish scratched that itch, then stock up on it. I fell in love with McClelland's Grand Oriental "Drama Reserve" for buttery, sweet and full taste that wasn't pure Virginia but something new and wonderful. I have not found...

Are Esoterica Blends Sold in Bulk?

I don't mind spending $40 a bag from my B&M. I've been supporting them for 23 years, and we have a great relationship. They know what I like, and I have no problem picking up my favorite Esoterica blends when they are available.
