    2 Mortas And An Egg

Thanks everyone! Phil - The stem is acrylic. I'm not sure a fordite stem that you put in your mouth would work very well, not durable enough or taste very good. And in thinking about it, I'm sure I'd be paying more for the fordite chunks than I sold the entire pipe for in this case. There were...

    Failure to taste Virginia's

Only thing I can think of to try at this point. Smoke an english and immediately after smoke a VA in a different pipe. If you can't taste them then, I'd say your palate is not a VA lover. Feel free to send all of you VAs and VA/Pers to me for disposal :)

    The Quality of the Briar

You have to consider the era in which the pipe is/was produced. Any new wood from reliable sources is boiled and cured much better than what old factories used to get. So this whole hoopla of the briar must be X # of years air cured or be treated special is as much voodoo science and magic as...

    First Pipe Since Chicago

Thanks! I'm normally not a big fan of dual finishes, but the commissioner called for it. I am pretty satisfied with the end result however. Without the faux horn stem inlay, I think it wouldn't be as nice looking with the dual bowl finish. That little accent really makes it all pop. First Anse...

MOULD ALERT: FVF 250g Bulk Box Riddled With Mould (Pics)

That bag has been compromised by a hole somewhere along the line which culminated the growth. I'd return it for a replacement. Do not try and jar it as the mold will just continue to migrate, even if you only put in flakes that look visibly mold free. I always jar after receiving bulk. And I am...

L.E.D. Light effects on pipe stems?

Commercially available "White" LEDs for use in lighting are generally an all blue High powered LED with a phosphor coating that changes the spectral output. Again, to woodsroad's point, spectral outputs for LEDs don't go into the UV category under 400nm wavelengths in the manufacturers spec...

L.E.D. Light effects on pipe stems?

It's all relative to the amount of UV given off by the light source. So depending on the wavelength of your LEDs, generally there is very little if any UV for a warm white 2700kelvin color temperature. When you go farther into the blue and purple spectrum you can really get into the UV...
