Had my first bowlful. Could taste the tobacco all the way through. Or maybe it was the bowl varnish. Mad Fiddler is the only tobacco I know of (except maybe Bengal Slices) that is tougher than the break in process. Yeah, couldn't taste all of the nuances with MF, but on the first smoke...- gord

II am now - I also have an International as well. I sure didn't enjoy breaking in the bowls, though. Toughest and worst bowl break-ins I've ever experienced. They're both covered nicely to 3/4 way up now, but need more smoking to get to the thickness that works best for me.- gord

All things equal, if given an echoless sound chamber (ie recording studio environment) compared to an amateur, quite a lot. Compared to pro to pro, not much. Some do produce a bigger sound (ie Isaac Stern) but it is also instrument dependent as well as bowing technique and certain interpretive...- gord

Alternatives to Whiskey & Pipe
I like cold coffee, Roibas tea, filtered cold water or plain Perrier, depending on tobacco. A chunk or two of your favorite ryecrisp also works . . . . to me at least doesn't detract from the flavor of the tobacco I'm smoking.- gord
