Selling on Craigslist - Dealing with Scammers

The "refund the overpayment to me" scam is an oldie but a goodie. There is always someone out there who has not hear about it. It's a favorite of the Nigerian con artists. When someone responds to your ad but never mentions the item your selling by it's actual name, but just as "the item" or...

PipesMagazine.com - What You Need to Know

Back in the 80's another shop and I put on a local pipe show. I had a friend's cute daughter helping me at my table. When she told guys she thought they looked good with a particular pipe sales zoomed!

Nope, I smoke a lot of English too. That shipment of SWR should last a while.

Should PipesMagazine.com Start Charging a Subscription Fee?

I absolutely agree with Fred's post. The good spirit of the members here is why I come back. Unfortunately I have not encountered that on many forums. I've visited and posted on forums related to both pipes (no longer) and a few other subjects and have encountered some real jurks. I've seen...

    Peterson Pipes

My previous posts were made in good fun, but I can't help but wonder if some guys love their Petes "because" they and the pipe are both Irish. I had a customer who used to come in my shop who was of Irish decent and went around the IRA bumper stickers on his car. He would not smoke any pipe...

    tobacco, moist or dryer

Ok, I should have explained. As soon as you put the fresh apple slice in the tobacco it starts to decompose (rot). All that sugar combined with a dark, moist environment is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria. This bacteria can transfer to the tobacco you're going to smoke, which ain't...

Easy and Great Looking Pipe Tamper.

It's like the high school slut, everyone whats to touch her but no one whats to take her home... (no insult intended :D ) I've seen this with other cool items too. I would post them on ebay now and then and put a higher opening bid. As to your own web site, the problem is not creating the...

    Peterson Pipes

I have a theory: You're all crazy about Petersons because you're a bunch of Irishmen. And I'm not crazy about Petersons because my ancestors were English and spent their time slaughtering Irishmen...

    tobacco, moist or dryer

Chero: I can tell by your pic you're from the same generation I am and you, like me, probably heard about the apple slice thing years ago. It sounds quaint, but it really isn't a good idea to put "rotting fruit" in your tobacco. :x Just a litte spritz of water will do nicely.

    Butera Pipes

I don't understand your comment Lawrence. I don't see any evidence of a wire brush being used around the rim... do you mean the top? I'm sure he wire brushed the rusticated area before the final finish though. Can you elaborate?

Should PipesMagazine.com Start Charging a Subscription Fee?

Ok, I see your point. But do you really think people will pay to read articles, view videos and blogs? I'm sorry, I just don't think so. Please take my comments in the spirit intended... the best interest of the site.

Should PipesMagazine.com Start Charging a Subscription Fee?

I just remembered something... I know of another web site, not pipe related, that offers a forum, which is free, and they have a section where you can buy and sell a certain type of unusual items... no, not porn. Anyway, they don't charge any ad fees or commissions. When they started the site...
