    Darn - Laid off again

Keep your chin up and hang in there, I've been there a few times and it sucks. I finally got sick of losing my job every time there was a downturn in the economy and started a small business.

Ordering a pipe from Pipes and Cigars, safe?

I've bought from them many times and have always been satisfied.

    Own a handgun?

I own many handguns but my daily carry piece is this splendid Sig P220 Carry, the ammunition is Winchester Ranger .45 ACP 230 gr HP (the old Black Talon) given to me by a buddy who is a county sheriff in my home state of Indiana. I absolutely love this gun.

    Hey there, I'm new.

Welcome! I came to the pipe much like you, I did it as a way to quit cigarettes. I don't miss the cancer sticks at all and neither will you. This is a great group of guys (and a few gals), you will enjoy it here.

Moderate or Occasional Pipe Smoking Only?

pipebaum81, I think you, robin, and I are three peas in a pod. In the next life, if you two bring some good leaf I promise to supply some good liquor and the three of us will have a ball. :D

Moderate or Occasional Pipe Smoking Only?

@robin, Very well stated, that is exactly what I was getting at with my post. My love of pork and dairy products will probably kill me long before tobacco does but am I giving up bacon, ham, sausage, butter or cheese? Hell, no! nor am I going to give up tobacco, driving cars, hunting, boating...

    Watch fans?

I like automatics, I love the craftsmanship. I wear a Hamilton Viewmatic for everyday and have an Omega DeVille for dress occasions.

Moderate or Occasional Pipe Smoking Only?

I'm in agreement with cigrmaster here and my opinion is pretty much identical to his. I smoke from 2 to 5 bowls everyday and don't give it a second thought. If one is worried about the health risks then I would suggest they not smoke but life is full of risks and no one gets out of it alive...

    Scored Another Vintage Dunhill

Ha ha, that brings back memories Pat. When I was student at Purdue there was a place called Plasma Alliance that a lot of my friends used to frequent for beer money. I think at the time (1980s) they paid $20 per visit which would buy a lot of nickel beers on drink special night, not being a...

    Scored Another Vintage Dunhill

Trust me, if I could swing it that '68 would be mine. I'd love to have it.

    Scored Another Vintage Dunhill

Thanks. I get a real kick out of smoking old pipes. There is something really cool about smoking old briar that was shaped into a pipe by human hands back when craftsmanship meant something. My ultimate goal is to someday have an entire rack of pre-1970 Dunhills.

    Scored Another Vintage Dunhill

From Mike at Briar Blues, it's on hold for me, a beautiful billiard made in 1964. He has a couple of other Dunhill billiards I wish I could afford to buy, especially the 1968 Bruyere Billiard. 1964 DUNHILL BRUYERE

    “Seasoning" a bowl

My go to for seasoning bowls is Lawry's. Good stuff that makes everything taste better.

    Help Me Understand Perique

I have a hard time discerning the flavor of perique. I have also never been able to taste leather, freshly mowed grass, chocolate, coffee, caramel, Jennifer Aniston's panties (I wish I knew what they taste like), etc in a cigar or pipe tobacco.

    How Clean is your Pipe?

How do you guys know what a ferret's bunghole tastes like?
